NDC wrestles Cape Coast constituency seat from NPP

Cape Coast, Dec. 8, GNA - The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has caused a stir in the Cape Coast constituency, by beating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in both the presidential and parliamentary election conducted on Sunday. The constituency is considered the stronghold of the NPP, and the party had the parliamentary incumbent, Ms Christine Churcher who has occupied the seat since 1996. The NDC also clinched a victory at the Komenda -Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) constituency in both election. The CPP's Dr Nduom had been the incumbent parliamentarian. In Election 2004, the NPP presidential candidate, President John Kufuor had 39,803 votes representing 56.97 per cent of the votes and the NDC's Professor John Atta Mills had 29,224 representing 41.83 percent.
