President Nana Akufo-Addo has criticised the Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, for failing to introduce any significant policies that positively impacted the lives of Ghanaians during his presidency.

Speaking during his campaign tour in the northern part of the country, President Akufo-Addo remarked that Ghanaians find it difficult to name any notable initiative introduced by John Mahama while he held the highest office in the country.

"When you mention the name of J.J. Rawlings, District Assemblies come to mind; when you mention the name of John Agyekum Kufuor, the National Health Insurance Scheme comes to mind; when you mention the name of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Free Senior High School comes to mind. But when you mention John Mahama, all we hear is 'Dumsor, dumsor,'" he said.

He added, "We want someone who is going to take our country forward, not backward."

During John Mahama's presidency, from 2012 to 2016, Ghana experienced severe electricity shortages for both domestic and industrial use.

This led to the implementation of regular and irregular load-shedding programs, which were dubbed "dumsor" by Ghanaians.

The power crisis affected the livelihoods of individuals and businesses, with some companies closing down because they could not afford to purchase generators to keep their operations running.
