President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed his commitment to improving the country's infrastructure, noting that his administration has constructed more roads and interchanges than any other in Ghana's history.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Flower Pot Interchange on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, the President stated that the Interchange seeks to advance the country's developmental agenda.

"Standing here today to commission the Flower Pot Interchange is both a privilege for me and a proud moment for our nation. This is not just the opening of a new piece of infrastructure; it is the unveiling of a vision for Ghana's future, one built on commitment to lasting progress, inclusivity, and national pride," he explained.

The President noted that when his administration took office in 2017, they pledged to transform Ghana's infrastructure landscape, emphasising that true national development is anchored on well-planned and executed projects.

"Roads are not just physical connections; they are pathways to opportunity, prosperity, and a better quality of life for all. Today, with this Interchange, we reaffirm that our commitment to progress is more than rhetoric—it is action built in stone and steel," he added.

Akufo-Addo explained that the Flower Pot roundabout previously handled up to 5,000 vehicles per hour during peak times, resulting in significant delays and frustrations for commuters.

"This project offers a solution designed not only to address today's challenges but also to anticipate tomorrow's demand. It exemplifies our government's vision for a modern, interconnected, and prosperous Ghana," he said.

Constructed by the China Railway Engineering Ghana, the 802-meter dual carriageway includes a state-of-the-art overpass at the Spintex Road Flower Pot roundabout.

The Interchange is expected to ease traffic flow across high-density areas like Cantonments, Burma Camp, East Legon, and Spintex, significantly reducing travel times.
