The Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has cautioned government appointees to embrace humility and integrity in public service, reminding them that political office is a responsibility to the people.

Speaking at the 44th anniversary of the 31st December Revolution, held on Thursday, January 1, 2026, she stressed that leadership must be seen as stewardship.

“My position, anyone's position, whether elected or appointed (is) you are a custodian of the power of the people of Ghana. You are not there for yourselves or for your immediate family,” she said.

Dr Agyeman-Rawlings continued by urging leaders to treat their service as a higher calling.

“You are there to serve, so serve like you are serving God. Whether elected or appointed, you must serve with humility and integrity because you are a custodian of the power of the people of Ghana,” she added.

She also cautioned against arrogance and misuse of authority, warning that power is temporary.

“Do not abuse your power. Do not become arrogant, and do not get confused by the fact that you are where you are today because you do not know what tomorrow holds,” she told the gathering.

The 44th anniversary of the 31st December Revolution commemoration brought together party faithful, activists, and citizens to reflect on the legacy of the 1981 uprising led by her late father, former President Jerry John Rawlings.
