President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given thumps up to the nation’s farmers and fishermen for their significant contribution to Ghana’s economy, assuring them of his government’s continued support and solidarity.
In a message to mark the 2018 National Farmers Day celebration, he wrote: “I send best wishes to the men and women whose toil, on a daily basis, feeds us, keeps us alive, and plays an important role towards the development of our country”.
“Without the work of our farmers and fisher folk, it is certain we cannot realize the United nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 2, which requires that we seek sustainable solutions to end hunger in all its forms by 2030, achieve food security and improve nutrition”.
President Akufo-Addo said with the majority of Ghanaians involved in agriculture, celebrating the achievements of farmers who had greatly contributed to the socio-economic growth of the country was well deserved.
“Let me assure our farmers and fisher folk of Government’s continued support and solidarity with them”, he added.
