The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has called on Speaker Alban Bagbin to recall Parliament before the 8th Parliament concludes its tenure.
Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo on Friday, 15 November 2024, Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, emphasised that Bagbin, as Speaker and leader of Parliament, has the authority to mediate the ongoing standoff between the NPP and NDC caucuses.
He urged Bagbin to foster unity and ensure that the Supreme Court's recent ruling is respected.
"The Supreme Court has spoken, and he is the leader of Parliament. I will also make an appeal, just like that of ex-President Kufuor, to recall Parliament. He should also speak to the two sides, NPP and NDC. We have a few weeks for their term to end," he stated.
Nana B commended the NPP MPs, led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, for their maturity when NDC MPs occupied the Majority side of Parliament.
He noted that the NPP MPs demonstrated a commitment to prioritising Ghana's interests by refraining from retaliatory actions despite provocations.
"I want to commend the Majority, led by Alexander Afenyo-Markin, for exhibiting tolerance and maturity. They prioritised Ghana's interest and decided not to engage in fisticuffs with the NDC MPs when they removed their name tags.
"The Majority Leader exhibited sterling leadership by taking legal action, which the Supreme Court has now ruled on," he said.
