President John Dramani Mahama nominated Collins Asomah as Berekum West District Chief Executive
The 27-member Assembly has endorsed President John Dramani Mahama's nominee, Mr. Collins Asomah, as the Berekum West District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Bono Region.
The President's nominee received 100 percent of the Assembly's votes in an election conducted and supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission, held at Jinijini, the district capital.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Asomah said his overwhelming confirmation reflected the Assembly’s readiness to push forward the holistic development of the district. He thanked the Assembly Members (AMs) for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work selflessly and with humility.
He also expressed his heartfelt appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for giving him the opportunity to serve in his government, and he thanked the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as well.
Mr. Asomah said that with peace and unity, the development of the district could be brought to the next level. He pledged his readiness to work with all stakeholders, including the traditional authorities and the AMs, irrespective of their backgrounds.
He urged the people to bury their political differences, forge ahead in unity, eschew partisan politics, and help tackle the emerging development needs of the district.
Mr. Joseph Addai Akwaboa, the Bono Regional Minister, congratulated the DCE and urged him to work diligently to justify the confidence reposed in him by the people and to facilitate the development of the area.
He reminded the DCE that the government was determined and committed to fighting corruption and asked him to work in partnership to stem illegal mining activities in the area.
Mr. Akwaboa warned that illegal miners would be prosecuted and entreated the people to be vigilant and report suspected instances of illegal mining in the district to the Assembly or security operatives.
