'Tell them you're the fake doctor with fake academic records' - NPP's Amekplenu to Rashid Tanko

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Communications Team, Senyo Amekplenu, launched an attack on Rashid Tanko-Computer, the Deputy National Elections Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), following comments describing the NPP as a “fake party.”

Tanko had made the remarks while reacting to recent claims by former Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, who suggested that the NPP had lost credibility due to internal conduct and governance issues on GTV’s breakfast show on January 13, 2026.

However, speaking during a heated discussion on the same show, Senyo Amekplenu rejected the characterisation and accused Rashid Tanko of lacking the moral authority to make such claims, citing what he described as Tanko’s exposed fake academic credentials.

“You don’t sit here and call the NPP a fake party because you heard somebody say it,” Senyo said.

Senyo argued that the NPP has never been associated with falsified academic qualifications, insisting that no member of the party has been sanctioned for holding fake doctoral titles.

“It is a party that does not have fake academic credentials. It is a party that does not have fake doctoral titles. It is a party with people of integrity,” he stated.

He then turned his attention directly to Rashid Tanko, accusing him of hypocrisy and dishonesty.

“You knew very well that you never attended any university, yet you were attaching a PhD title to your name,” Senyo alleged.

“Mr Computer, you are a fake doctor. You have been asked to stop using that title, yet you sit here and want to call the NPP a fake party.”

Senyo challenged Rashid Tanko and the NDC to focus on governance and accountability rather than what he described as propaganda.

“Tell them the truth. Tell them you are the fake man with fake academic records. Recover the loot and stop singing,” he added.
