Alhaji Yusif Sulemana is the Bole Bamboi MP
The Member of Parliament for Bole Bamboi, Alhaji Yussif Sulemana, refrained from participating in the parliamentary debate on the State of the Nation Address (SONA) as it coincided with the time for IFTAR, during the holy month of Ramadan.
This happened when the lawmaker, who belongs to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), was called by the Second Deputy Speaker, Isaac Asiamah, to make a submission.

He stated that the scheduled debate time overlapped with the period during which Muslims break their fast.
Addressing the Speaker before stepping away, the MP indicated that it was not an ideal time for him to contribute to the debate.
“Mr Speaker, it is rather unfortunate that this time is not an ideal time for me to debate,” he said.
He explained that an earlier appeal had been made regarding a Muslim programme scheduled around the same time.
“I say so because yesterday we made an appeal that we will be having a Muslim program around this time. It is time for me to break my fast, and it is time for me to join my colleagues to celebrate the event of power, and so, regrettably, I am unable to debate,” he stated.

His decision to step away from the debate comes as Muslims across Ghana and the world observe Ramadan, a period during which fasting Muslims break their fast at sunset, known as IFTAR.
