Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor is the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament
The Majority Caucus in Parliament has firmly pushed back against claims that its members received special treatment in the allocation of slots to attend the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, calling the accusations misleading and unhelpful at a time when the nation should be rallying behind the Black Stars.
The controversy erupted after the Minority side suggested that Majority MPs were each allocated two travel slots for the tournament, with their constituencies supposedly getting three, painting a picture of preferential treatment that has left many ordinary Ghanaians wondering about fairness in access to this historic moment.

But the Majority has strongly denied any such arrangement, insisting that no slots were handed out to individual lawmakers or their constituencies.
Rising on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, Majority Chief Whip Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor set the record straight and warned against inflaming tensions in the House.
“Nobody was given two slots. The government announced that they were not sponsoring anybody apart from the established national supporters’ union for the World Cup.
“MPs have not been given slots, and so when you sit here and say those things, you are aggravating disorder in the House. How do you stand on the Floor of Parliament and be insinuating that slots were given, but we kept them for ourselves?”
