Chairman of the Communication Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea
Chairman of the Communication Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea has spoken to the accusations of sole sourcing of contracts leveled at the ruling NDC government.
Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister in charge of Government Communications, told the country last Monday the results of the investigation into road contracts awarded by the Ministry of Roads.
The Fourth Estate had published findings on the award of road contracts, accusing the Ministry of rampant sole sourcing, inflated contract sums, dubious luxury vehicle purchases, irregular apportioning of contract sums to head office renovations, etc.
Kwakye Ofosu informed us that the office of the president had appointed a staffer at the presidency to lead a team to investigate the charges published by the Fourth Estate against the Roads Minister and the Ministry.
Kwakye Ofosu informed us last Monday that the investigative team had found no wrongdoing in the award of the road contracts.
I recall the previous government did appoint investigators to prove charges of misconduct, wrongdoing and corruption against some government officials. Some of the reports from the investigations at that time also absolved the concerned officials/institutions etc.
The NDC, led by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, slammed the reports as self-dealing and shambolic, and described former President Akufo-Addo as a chief clearing agent, focused on 'clearing' his appointees through dubious investigations.
The same thing is being done today: allegations against president Mahama's appointees are conducted by appointees/staffers of the president who then proceed to exonerate the accused appointees, which exoberation is announced to us by kwakye Ofosu.
“Clearly, the reset agenda has not affected the clearing agent business at all,” Akomea said.
