George Oti Bonsu, founder of the Base Movement, has claimed that former MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, will lead his movement in the 2028 general elections.
According to him, he has warned members of the movement not to speak ill of Kennedy Agyapong or any other political opponents ahead of the elections.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on June 22, 2026, George Oti Bonsu, a former financier of the NPP, disclosed to the host, Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, that Kennedy Agyapong was set to lead them.
When the host questioned him about the movement’s flagbearer, Oti Bonsu stated that the host already knew the answer and added that if he ever denied it, he should stop attending his church.
Following that remark, the host suggested that he believed Kennedy Agyapong was their flagbearer, to which Oti Bonsu responded, “You know ... God should increase your age this morning.”
MPs seek disciplinary action against Kennedy Agyapong for anti-party behaviour
Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong, who contested the NPP presidential primaries, lost to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
However, Kennedy Agyapong’s camp has distanced itself from the Base Movement, maintaining that he has no involvement with the group.
