Former Member of Parliament for Tema Central, Yves Hanson-Nortey, has described former Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro MP, Sylvester Tetteh, as the ideal candidate to serve as General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), insisting that he possesses all the qualities needed to lead the party's administrative affairs.

According to Hanson-Nortey, Tetteh's experience, organisational skills and commitment to the NPP make him the right person to occupy the position ahead of the party's internal elections and preparations for the 2028 general elections.

"Sly possesses all the qualities required to lead the party as General Secretary," Hanson-Nortey stated.

He made the remarks when Tetteh and his campaign team paid a courtesy call on former Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Karaga, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, on June 28, 2026, as part of ongoing consultations with key party stakeholders.

The delegation accompanying Tetteh comprised former Members of Parliament and former District Chief Executives (DCEs), a development that Hanson-Nortey said reflects the growing support behind his bid for the position.

During the meeting, Dr Amin Adam also endorsed Tetteh's candidature, expressing confidence in his ability to effectively discharge the responsibilities of General Secretary.

"For me, I support him because I believe he can do the job. We need competent people in key positions to strengthen the party going forward," Dr Amin Adam said.

The former Finance Minister further indicated his preference for Paul Afoko in the race for National Chairman, describing the combination of leaders he supports as a strategic team capable of repositioning the NPP ahead of the next general elections.
