'Be very careful, Bawumia will come' - Titus Glover warns NDC over Miracles Aboagye's arrest

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has lambasted the NDC government over the arrest and detention of NPP communicator Dennis Miracles Aboagye.

According to him, the manner in which the current government has been using state institutions to settle political scores sets a very negative precedent.

Titus Glover made the remarks while speaking to the media at the EOCO premises on Monday, July 13, 2026, as NPP supporters gathered outside to protest Aboagye's arrest and detention.

The former minister criticised EOCO boss Raymond Archer for creating unnecessary tension and drama around what could have been handled quietly and professionally.

"What Raymond Archer is doing is making the peace of this country so negative, so bad. We haven't heard anything. Since yesterday, he was denied access to his counsel. What is all this? It's not nice," he said.

He also took issue with the manner in which Aboagye was intercepted at the airport upon his return to Ghana, describing it as unnecessarily aggressive.

"If a person has travelled, they just whisk him away from the airport as if he's a fugitive? They should take their time. What is all this?" he said.

The former minister suggested the arrest was designed to distract from the government's poor economic performance, pointing to Aboagye's vocal criticism of President Mahama's administration as the real reason behind his targeting.

"Miracles has been so critical of Mahama's government from day one. Once in a while, because the governance and the way they are handling the economy are so bad, they only want to divert attention. This is a total diversion of attention," he said.

Titus Glover ended with a pointed political warning directed at the ruling party, stating, "Inasmuch as there is sunshine, there is rainfall. This NDC government under President Mahama will come to an end in 2028. Bawumia will come. They should be very careful with the way they are running things."
