Sammy Gyamfi (R) said he and Nii Lante Vanderpuye (L) have resolved their issues
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has broken his silence on comments made by aspiring National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, regarding his recent response to Minority Leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin.
Nii Lante Vanderpuye had said he would have communicated differently if he were in Sammy Gyamfi’s position and described some of the words used by the GoldBod CEO as harsh, subsequently apologising on his behalf.

Responding to the matter on JoyNews’ Newsfile programme on Saturday, August 22, 2026, Sammy Gyamfi said he had spoken with Nii Lante Vanderpuye and that they had resolved their differences.
He described the former DRIP Coordinator as a senior brother who has supported his political career and said he did not believe he harboured any ill will towards him.
“Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye is one of the people who have been very supportive of my young political career projection. I consider him a senior brother and I know that he harbours no ill will towards me, but we are all not perfect,” he said.
“The man says he’s sorry. I believe it ends there. Yesterday, I had a very hearty conversation with him and we’ve put it behind us because, at the end of the day, we in the NDC have a party to build and a nation to govern,” he continued.
Sammy Gyamfi said he understood the concerns raised about the strong language he used but maintained that his response was directed at what he described as a deliberate and malicious smear campaign against him and the Ghana Gold Board.
According to him, his strong response was necessary because the attacks against him and the Ghana Gold Board had persisted for about three months.
“But you see, the feedback that some of the comparisons and the words were strong is duly understood and taken in good faith, but I have explained to you that that is how you crush deliberate, malicious smear campaigns,” he stated.
He insisted that his strong response to Afenyo-Markin was necessary, alleging that the Minority Leader’s actions were not motivated by a genuine quest for accountability but by what he believed to be a personal agenda.
'He's an extortionist!' - Sammy Gyamfi dares Afenyo-Markin
“When somebody wants to, for three months, Sammy Gyamfi, GoldBod, you don’t give such a person a peck on the cheek, a hug, and a bouquet of flowers. You call him out for the world to know that what he’s doing is not borne out of any quest for accountability. It is personal, and the reason why he’s on that personal smear campaign is extortion,” he added.
