‘I only repeated NPP’s position’ – Baffour Awuah clarifies cocaine manufacturing claims

The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has clarified comments he made about claims that cocaine is being manufactured in Ghana.

The NPP lawmaker said he did not make the claim as his own during an interview with Citi FM, but repeated a position earlier presented by the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye.

His clarification comes after reports suggested that he had personally alleged that cocaine was being manufactured in Ghana.

“My attention has been drawn to several stories online suggesting that in an interview I granted to Citi FM on September 22, 2026, I personally alleged that cocaine is being manufactured in Ghana.

“It is worth noting that in the said interview, I only reiterated the position of my party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), as delivered by its National Organiser in a press conference held on September 22, 2026,” he clarified in a Facebook post on September 24, 2026.

The MP said the party’s position was based on intelligence it had received on cocaine-related issues, adding that the NPP should not be underestimated when it comes to gathering intelligence.

“It is also worthy of note that I made it clear that the party’s position, as highlighted in the press conference by the National Organiser, was informed by intelligence the party receives,” he said.

“It is crucial to recognise that the NPP is a formidable party and certainly let no one underestimate the intelligence available to the NPP,” he added.
