President Mills was an embodiment of peace – Ofosu Ampofo

Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Minister of Local Government and Rural Development has observed that the late President John Evans Atta Mills was an embodiment of peace whose demise must unify Ghanaians.

“Let us see what the good Professor stood for in life, close our ranks, and not allow politics to divide us as a nation,” he advised.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo made the observation over the weekend, when he joined members of Christ Pentecostal Church (CPC) International at New Fadama, in Accra, to celebrate her Founders Day.

He was of the view that the only tribute to the memory of President Mills was for Ghanaians to ensure that the country remained united, peaceful and stable before, during and after the Decembers polls.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo urged Ghanaians to accord political and spiritual leaders the due recognition and respect by celebrating them for their achievement while they live, in order to encourage them to give-off their best for the development of the nation.

He commended the church for her role in national development, pointing out that it was pivotal for the survival of the nation and that the country could not survive without the church.

He asked Ghanaians to rally solidly behind the Government in its bit to build a better Ghana so that “we succeed in whole as one nation with a common destiny and not apart.”

Rt. Rev. Evangelist Victor Kwaku Zulakpla, Founder and Leader of CPC, explained that the founder’s day is set aside in the church to thank God for His Anointing upon his servants.

He said as an anointed man of God, he has the responsibility, not only to preach the gospel, but to also pray for, and deliver the congregation from evil spirits, heal and provide them with spiritual cover.

On the upcoming elections, the founder reminded Ghanaians of their responsibilities, cautioning them not to foment trouble, which in his view, was the trade-mark of the evil one.

“Let comport ourselves during this period and show good example for others to emulate by continuing to pray for peace before, during and after the election.”

On the death of President Mills, Rt. Rev Zulakpla said during this grief period, when the entire nation was mourning “our departed President, Ghanaians ought to reflect soberly on the lost in order to prove to the whole world that they are a united people.”

Mr. Johnson Ahiakpor, Asuogyaman District Chief Executive, who chaired the function, urged Ghanaians to remain united.

He commended the CPC for the positive role it had played over the years and urged its leadership to rally solidly behind the Government.

Prayers were said for peace and stability of the nation.**
