A leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Bolgatanga Municipality has had his head cracked open with a stone over a John Dramani Mahama campaign motorbike.

Ironically, the person who wielded the stone to crack open George Abane's head is the wife of the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

So far, confirmed report gathered by this newspaper indicates that the wife of the Bolgatanga MCE Mr. Ayariba Ayagla, decided to hit Abane's head with a stone over suspicion that the latter, who is an executive member of the NDC in the municipality, was attempting to steal the motorbike.

Mr. George Abane is the Deputy Constituency Secretary of the Bolgatanga branch of the NDC.

Information available to the Daily Searchlight is that on Thursday, 25th October, 2012, the Municipal Chief Executive Mr. Ayariba Ayagla sent Mr. George Abane for some errands with a motorbike.

The vehicle is part of a consignment of JDM motorbike parked at the residence of the MCE for distribution to party activists.

Whilst on his way back to the MCE's residence, however, it began to rain, and Abani decided to go home with the motorbike and return it on Friday after ensuring that its properly cleaned after the rain.

It would seem that the inability of Abane to return the bike that very night did not please the MCE and his wife, who suspected Abane of trying to hijack the bike.

Upon the appearance of Abane at the residence of the MCE the next day, therefore, a heated exchange ensued between Abane on one hand and the MCE and his wife on the other hand.

This confrontation resulted in a near fight between the MCE and Abane, during the MCE picked up a stick to hit the deputy constituency secretary but the latter allegedly managed to collect the stick from the MCE.

However, whilst the pair was brawling, the MCE's wife, out of nowhere, picked up a stone and hit the head of Abane, causing a huge and bloody wound. Witnesses who were nearby saved him and sent him to hospital for treatment.

When this paper placed calls on the MCE to ascertain the authenticity of the story he answered and confirmed the story.
