Former National Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan has opined that the NDC's nationwide 'Unity Walks' which was spearheaded by Joshua Hamidu Akamba and Mr. Kojo Bonsu, were merely for fun.
Mr. Yaw Gyan made this comment on Asempa FM afternoon political show dubbed Ekosi Sen on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, after filling his nominations to contest as National Organizer of the party.
As the NDC prepare for its National Executives Congress, many stalwarts of the party have filed to contest for various positions.
The most keenly contested position appears to be the National Organizer position, which features the two terms Deputy National Organizer Joshua Hamidu Akamba, former National Organizer Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan, Mr. Baba Jamal, Madam Anita Desoso and a few others.
The former National Organizer who lost woefully to Mr Kofi Adams at the party's National Congress in 2014, is seeking a come back.
When quizzed about his chances of winning against the two terms Deputy National Organizer Joshua Hamidu Akamba, who is on record to have organized 'Unity Walks' to rejuvenate the party's base after it's defeat in 2016, Mr. Yaw Gyan indicated that the 'Unity Walks' added no value to the party and "was only a funfair".
He further stressed, that "Those who took part in the 'Unity Walks' only went to have fun" hence Akamba cannot trumpet it as an achievement to win him the National Organizer position".
The party is to have its National Congress on November 3, 2018 to elect its new national executives to steer the affairs of the party for the next four years.
