The Ashanti regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi has declared operation ’47 over 47? in the region ahead of the 2020 general elections.
The operation seeks to capture all parliamentary seat occupied for years by their major political opponents the NDC in their stronghold.
The targeted parliamentary seats include Asawase, Sekyere Afram plains and Ejura Sekyere Odumasi constituencies.
The party’s regional executives have outline series of strategies in the targeted constituencies to register massive presence there.
The activities include, monthly health walk, medical screening, door to door campaign and community forum which will be used to highlight achievement of the ruling party three years stay in office.
Addressing members after a May Day health walk in Kumasi, in the Asawase Constituency Chairman Wontumi said “ I want to use this occasion to send a clear signal to our friends in NDC here in Asawase that you can never pride Asawase as NDC’s stronghold in Ashanti region again after 2020 general elections.
“This time the Asawase constituency will fall to the NPP we mean whatever we are saying, Asawase, Ejura Sekye Odumasi, and Sekyere Afram Plains are all part of Ashanti region therefore NDC cannot pride themselves of having any constituency in Ashanti region as their stronghold”.
He underscored that pro-poor policies initiated by the ruling government is enough to secure victory for the party going into election 2020 if highlighted well to the electorate.
“The NDC failed to introduce a single pro-poor policy in the country during their last 8 years stay in government led by the late Prof. Mills and John Dramani Mahama, but under 3 years of President Nana Akufo- Addo’s NPP led government are we not benefiting from Free Education, NABCO, planting for food and jobs, Teacher training and Nursing training allowance?. Let me assure you all that the NDC led by Former President Mahama, a beneficially of Kwame Nkrumah Free SHS, for our brother in the Northern region, has plan to council the policy if elected into office. That is why he always condemn police any time he speaks to Ghanaians’’ he lamented”.
