Legal practitioner and former National Vice-chair aspirant of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Vida Agyekum Acheampong says it will not be easy for NEIP boss John Kumah to unseat Deputy Roads and Highways Minister Kwabena Owusu Aduomi for the Ejisu parliamentary seat in the upcoming NPP primaries.

Analysts have described the contest as one of the closest in the run-up to the weekend’s primaries as the duo have faced-off against each other in the past.

John Kumah has been very popular in terms of what he has done at the NEIP.

However, being the Deputy Roads and Highways Minister, incumbent Kwabena Owusu Aduomi is also believed to have won the hearts of constituents.

Speaking on Campaign Trail with Regina Borley Bortey on Starr FM, Lawyer Achehampong said Mr Aduome may have to pull some financial prowess to be able to come out strong to beat his major contender.

She said: “This is one of the closest contest we can have. These two people have faced-off against each other in the past, the incumbent managed to win. This time around John Kumah has come out very strong, obviously with help from his work at NEIP and so a lot of the young people within the constituency have had opportunities to get some support from the NEIP for their businesses and all that. That is a plus to him.”

“However, we should not underestimate the influence of Kwabena Owusu Aduome being the deputy minister for roads and highways.”

She went on “you know when it comes to roads, it’s a very sensitive issue and I think that with his position, he’s been able to help the constituency to get a fair share of their road development. So, when they are seeing the development around, and being a minister too if he can put together the financial prowess to be able to come forward so strong, I believe John Kumah even though he is also very influential will have difficulties toppling him.”

“It is very very close. Very very close. It will not be very easy at all for Lawyer John Kumah to unseat the honourable deputy minister,” she added.
