Kumasi, Dec 28, GNA - Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, said on Tuesday that the Commission was ready for the smooth conduct of the District Level and Unit Committee polls in all the 27 administrative districts in the region.
Mr Isaac Kofi Asomaning told the Ghana News Agency that electoral material= s had been dispatched to the districts and did not anticipate any glitches. The election, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, December 28, was postponed to December 29 because printing of the ballot papers was not complete.
Mr Asomaning said the Commission was doing everything to ensure a successful election.
Balloting would take place in 1,058 electoral areas in the region. A total of 3,393 candidates are contesting the assembly poll with 9,47= 3 vying for the unit committees.
