Bawumia Lecture Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Having had their vile propaganda about the number of staffers at the Presidency torpedoed with incontrovertible facts and figures, some elements within the corridors of the opposition National Democratic Congress have deemed it ideal to use another avenue to tarnish the image of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led administration and to wheel into the public domain another topic for discourse in the media landscape.

To actualize this evil intent, a website has been created ostensibly to misinform the general public about the $1 million per constituency policy promised by the New Patriotic Party prior to the 2016 general elections.

The website, www.kasapaonline.com has reported that the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, at a programme he attended in the United Kingdom, backtracked on the $1 million per constituency pledge. The Vice President, according to this website, intimated that people are misinterpreting the suggestion to be a promise, and that the party only made a suggestion but not a promise.

First of all, the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has not embarked on any trip to the UK to attend any function where he is alleged to have made these comments. The Vice President's trip to the UK was on the grounds of medical leave. This was widely reported in the media, and that remains the only trip he has made to the country this year.

A cursory look at the website would send one's mind to the known www.kasapafmonline.com, but it is not the case. This is a website birthed by some evil minded political opponents who cannot contain the imminent implementation of the $1 million per constituency policy.

With the list of men and women charged with the responsibilities of overseeing the successful implementation of the various development authorities having been released, these anti-government elements feel highly uncomfortable, and thus, have preceded the programme with this fake news item.

The NPP made a promise to accelerate the developmental agenda of the country, and the government has not reneged on that promise as instanced by the recent announcement of people who are to man the various segments associated with the programme.

The general public should disregard this fabricated publication as it is worlds apart from the truth. It is important to reiterate this point, and that is, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has not made any such comments being attributed to him whether in the UK or any other place for that matter.
