Kwabena Amoako, 24, who went to win diamonds illegally, popularly known as "galamsey", at 'Belgium' on the Akyem Oda Railway Line, drowned in the Birim River on Wednesday. The Ghana News Agency at Akyem Oda reports a Police source as saying that the deceased and three others were digging for diamonds at the bank of the river when two of them got trapped. He said one of them was rescued leaving the deceased whose body was washed ashore the following day.
