Nana Akuffo Addo, the giant in the freedom and democractic aspirations of the Ghanaian is in full flight to take the presidency in January, 2009. As his convoy makes stops from cities, towns to villages with his forward agenda for Ghana's development, signified with the Kangaro dance. The young and old are gingered never as before to be lifted along with him.
The brave, confident and dedicated political leader, who combines his elite background with a great sense of service and mass mobilization in affecting social change, is poised to inspire and unleash the best in the Ghanaian. Despite, Nana's privileged upbringing he had not been indifferent to the struggle and plight of the ordinary Ghanaian. Nana's life has been defined by hardwork, commitment, loyalty and service to the good course of people. Nana sees his background as a challenge, responsibility to serve and improve the lot of his people and not to lord it over them. In his own words he declares, “I come from a background where public service is considered a duty and where privilege and good fortune demand even greater commitment to the public good”. The son of the late Mr. Edward Akuffo-Addo, a member of the Big Six and President of the second Republic. Nana was born in public service, nurtured in the values of patriotism, compassion, love, hard work and sacrifice-the need-to-die a little for humanity.
Inspired by his family background, shaped by his training and professional commitment in equity, fairness and justice, Nana has always been at the forefront in Ghana’s socio-political journey. Nana Addo has become a household name and no doubt every where people echo ‘ yenim no firitete.’
I believe his leadership is much needed at the current stage of our nation’s development, where strong leadership, inspiration and vision would be the tripod stand on which Ghana can be propelled forward.
