A misplaced Akufo-Addo agenda already on the horizon?

Folks, these NPP people are really looking for all kinds of straw to hang on to in their desperate attempt to appeal to voters. I have all along insisted that they don't know how to do productive politics and will continue to lick their wounds at the end of the polls.

They have chosen the wrong tools with which to seek voter support and shouldn't be surprised at the end of the day. Taking to the streets at will, mobilizing all manner of people into so-called civil society groupings to howl about on the political landscape, and indulging in rogue politics won't fetch them anything useful politically.

Now, they are into something more weird: "President Akufo-Addo will investigate Prof Mills’ death—Titus Glover", and the details explain matters:

“An Akufo-Addo Presidency will investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of former President John Evans Atta Mills, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislator has disclosed.

Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, MP for Tema East, insists there is possibly more than meets the eye about the sudden demise of Prof Mills two years ago, and there is an urgent need to investigate the death and put any suspicions to bed...

"We all know the old man was sick, but the doctors said it will be some time before he is called. But all of a sudden we heard he is dead. We will look into it.”

MY COMMENTS

As for the aspect attributed to Anthony Karbo, the least said about it the better. After all, the voters in his own constituency were quick to dismiss him as “zany” when he approached them for their backing to enter Parliament. He went underground (a crippled political submarine) only to be rescued by the damage-control measures taken by the Akufo-Addo hegemony in the NPP cabal to resurface with his trash-talking mantra. He is a nonentity to be scoffed.

They might have been riding high on the crest of speculative politicking, basing their stance on what is circulating about Boateng-Gyan to suggest that he has tapes on the Mills saga. The man has come out to deny anything of the sort. So, what is the justification for anybody in the NPP to hang on to such trash to create the impression that an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mills’ death would provide the panacea for solving Ghana’s systemic problems? Are these NPP people politicians at all?

These NPP people are really interested in raking up the past; but what do they think they will accomplish? Guided by nothing but mischief, they will set out on a wild goose chase. Are they any more interested in ex-President Mills whom they took every liberty to insult at will and paint as a "chamber pot" (thanks to Isaac Edumadze)?

And we recall other instances when Mills was castigated as “impotent”, a drunkard, a philanderer, and an unfocused person not fit to be Ghana’s President. The NPP people did much harm to him. Their General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong, is on record for making scathing comments about Mills, which forced him to react: “As for Kwabena Agyepong, I can born him”.

Mills suffered more at the hands of the NPP than the NDC, even if Rawlings tormented him much to put him on the quivive.

We even heard from some of them that they sympathy that they expressed/showed at his funeral was not genuine. They told us that they mourned him as a mere formality. So, two years after that event, why are they seeking to re-open the wound that has healed?

Are they now more interested in investigating Mills' death than his family that accepted his fate and let the past belong to itself? Are they not crying themselves hoarse for nothing? Weeping more than the bereft?

If they seek to gain any political capital of the unfortunate death of ex-President Mills, they will be disappointed. These are shameless opportunists. An Akufo-Addo Presidency will continue to exist in their fevered imagination. Such characters!!

Will Akufo-Addo go deeper than the Mills line to investigate what killed his own father at 71 years? There are many of such deaths that he can lead the NPP pack to look into, as already pointed out by many readers who responded to the news report.

The most contentious of such bizarre deaths is that of the Ya-Na on March 27, 2002, when Akufo-Addo was the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General who ordered that Jahinfo, Yidana and others arrested as prime suspects be released from jail even at the time that the Wuaku Commission was leading evidence to confirm their complicity.

Folks, there are many other issues, even regarding the May 9, 2001 Accra Sports Stadium disaster (when soccer fans died at the Kotoko-Hearts meeting) when Kufuor appointed Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey to handle matters only for him to do "suuliya" with the huge sums of money meant for the victims and their relatives. Has Akufo-Addo any more conscience left to rake the past about "mysterious deaths"? Such a character is quickly proving us right that he is not well-cut-out to help us solve the systemic problems drawing Ghana's development back.

I am working on an opinion piece to examine his real intentions for wanting to be Ghana's President and should post it as soon as completed. This shrimp will definitely be overtaken by events. If he is intelligent, he should just read between the lines. His well-accomplished father passed away at 71, living a life that had no scandal or fraud and becoming the titular head of state by virtue of political alignment and personal accomplishments at the Chief Justice of Ghana before paying his dues to Nature.

This William Nana Addo Danquah (Dankwah) Akufo-Addo is the exact opposite of his father and has gone on a ‘lorgorligi” path of questionable imperatives. By Election 2016, he would have set a record of being the oldest, desperate Ghanaian politician (or human rights activist? Ridiculous!!) to have sought the highest office of the land. Nature beckons him as well, and he had be better careful how he plays his cards, “all-die-be-die” notwithstanding. The major problem that will confront the NPP thereafter is not my cup of tea!!

Fie to them all, self-righteous “interrectuals” but no problem-solving politicians of any repute!!!

I shall return…
