A word to Dr Arthur Kennedy et al

I am someone who lived and saw your fight for Ghanaian students during the early days of the Provision National Defense Council which resulted in your departure of your country of birth. I was at Alexandria, Virginia last September when you introduced yourself and told the crowd of NPP supporters that you were running for president. I have been following your campaign and want to draw some few constitutional issues to your attention and let us see how best these can be addressed.

I read that you have resigned as the CEO of an establishment in North Carolina to focus your attention on your campaign. That immediately caught my attention. The fact of the matter is if you just resigned, then it means we have a constitutional issue at hand.

According to Article 62 clause (c) “he is a person who is otherwise qualified to be elected a Member of Parliament, except that the disqualifications set out in paragraphs (c), (d), and (e) of clause (2) of article 94 of this Constitution shall not be removed, in respect of any such person, by a presidential pardon or by the lapse of time as provided for in clause (5) of that article.”

Reading further Article 94 ( c ) states that ”he is resident in the constituency for which he stands as a candidate for election to Parliament or has resided there for a total period of not less than five years out of the ten years immediately preceding the election for which he stands, or he hails from that constituency; ”

In your case your constituency is the whole of Ghana and the question I want answered is have you lived in lived in Ghana a total of five years to meet this criterion?

It will be unfair to you if this is not pointed out to you only to be used at the last minute to eliminate you after taking about five hundred million cedis from you.
