She was deliberately and deviously recruited by former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the populist and opportunistic name of the inclusion of rural lower-class citizens in the mainstream of Ghanaian politics, only to be predictably used as a lurid bait to sidetrack then-Candidate Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party. This cheap ploy, as had been widely expected, did not work. In reality, the founder and leader of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) does not belong to the economic class and the social group that she is supposed to be representing, if we are to go by widespread reports, and by her own intermittent public confessions indicating that she has had a house and an automobile purchased for her by either former President Mahama or the key operatives of the now main opposition National Democratic Congress.
She is also widely known to have accompanied the former President on several foreign trips at the expense of the hardworking Ghanaian taxpayer. Then also, Ms. Donkor and her Ghana Freedom Party are legally registered and recognized by the country’s Electoral Commission (EC). What this means is that her apparent psychotic attempt to scandalously and criminally defame and ridicule Ms. Patience Osafo, the 36-year-old grandmother – as I understand it – savagely beaten by Lance-Corporal Frederick Amanor at the Shiashie, East Legon, branch of the Midland Savings and Loans Bank, must be taken with all the seriousness that it deserves. The GFP leader must be invited by the authorities of the Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to present the forensically sustainable evidence that she claims to possess, indicating that the tragic victim of the brutal assault by Officer Amanor is part of an established criminal gang that intended to case up and rob the Midland Bank on the day of her brutal assault (See “Midland Saga: Woman Is a Thief, Deserved More Beatings – Akua Donkor” Ghanaweb.com 7/22/18).
This is a heinous crime and a horrendous event that has brought global embarrassment to the image and reputation of the country and must, therefore, not be allowed to be trivialized, not even by this retard poseur and prominent de facto operative of the National Democratic Congress. It is also true that ours is a constitutional democracy that endows individual citizens with the inalienable right to free speech, even unpopular speech; but, of course, a brazenly categorical attempt to malign and/or ruin the reputation of other innocent individual citizens is execrable and totally unacceptable. The good news here, though, is that short of a plea of insanity, Corporal Amanor is highly likely to be dishonorably discharged from the Ghana Police Service and may very well end up in the slammer or prison house. A plea of insanity would mean that the assailant or criminal suspect, to wit, Corporal Amanor, would have to submit himself for psychiatric examination and evaluation by a board-certified psychiatrist and be proven to have either been clinically insane at the time of the commission of his crime, or that he had, somehow, lapsed into a fitful bout of insanity that was directly triggered by his confrontation with his victim.
If his lawyers are able to prove a convincing case of clinical insanity on behalf of their client, Corporal Amanor may very likely end up in a mental asylum for a long-term treatment instead of a regular prison institution. Either way, justice would have been served, and the mercy-tempered justice that the criminal suspect’s family has reportedly been fighting for on behalf of their kinsman would have been equally and fairly attained.
Under absolutely no circumstance should Corporal Amanor be allowed to walk the streets of our cities, towns and villages without the necessary medical assistance and/or sanctions having been proportionately exacted, both in the perp’s own interest as well as the greater interest of Ghanaian society at large.
