In case you do not know how NPP’s disappointed presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo would have shown his flamboyant self to Ghanaians, just look at the way he zoomed to the Supreme Court (SC) house in Accra on Thursday August 29, followed by more than twenty-five fleet of cars.
You may wonder if Akufo-Addo knew of the final verdict before he left his residence to the SC house because he behaved as if he was either the President or President-Elect. Did you see how his security detail behaved? They guarded him as they would guard a president.
This outrageous behaviour should give you a peek as to how Akufo-Addo, the president-who-was-never-meant-to-be would have glossed over Ghanaians had the SC approved his bogus claims and thrown away millions of votes to pave the way for him to ascend the highest office of our mother Ghana.
Indeed Akufo-Addo is not a born leader, which is why instead of trying to win the election through the ballot box; he concocted a bogus story that he had been robbed of victory at the 2012 Presidential Election even though he won only two of the ten regions in the country.
Many NPP supporters who cannot assign one good reason as to why Akufo-Addo has twice unsuccessfully ran for the presidency, will simply state that he has paid his dues to mother Ghana. How much that dues is worth only time will tell, as the SC finally retired Akufo-Addo from politics following his humiliating defeat at the SC.
Leaders are born and bred on solid gold. When their time comes, they graciously glide through. It does not matter their age, sex, religion, tribe or creed. When their time comes, it comes. Therefore, if you are not one of them and you force your way through, you get the disgrace you deserve.
Akufo-Addo never won the 2012 Presidential Election. He knew it and so are those who pushed him into the false belief that he won and therefore has to fight at the law courts to claim the results at all cost.
It is good that Akufo-Addo went to the law courts, which eventually made him aware that false pretences cannot be entertained at the law courts. It’s good for Ghana that Akufo-Addo went to court. It’s also good for Ghana’s democracy. And it’s also a good warming to future losers to think through and do better assessment and analysis before rushing to court with bogus electoral irregularity claims.
Akufo-Addo is now over the hills. His time is gone and as far as political clout and capital is concerned, Akufo-Addo is history. He was not born to rule Ghana. Period! Therefore, his gimmicks are over and he should shove off and leave Ghana in peace.
We love Ghana more than we love Akufo-Addo. That is why even though some of his supporters shed some tears for him, they eventually left his compound and found solace in their homes. That should tell Akufo-Addo that when it matters most even his staunchest of supporters will chose Mother Ghana over him. Nana, please rest in your corner peacefully.
