* DESPERATION HIT THE NDC CAMP*

The eminent return of a man of peace and vision – Akufo Addo to contest the flagbearership of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) to become the party’s presidential candidate in the 2016 elections continue to send shocking waves and desperation within the camp of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This would be the third time Akufo Addo would be contesting for the presidency of Ghana and given his performance at the polls in 2008 and the results of the 2012 elections where the Chairman of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan admitted in evidence that there were massive issues of irregularities and statutory violations, Akufo Addo remains the best presidential candidate for the NPP capable of defeating President Mahama in the 2016 elections.

As the most popular Ghanaian political figure, the NDC have devised every clandestine and desperate method to shift the attention of Ghanaians from President Mahama’s ineptitude, high level corruption and the blatant despondency in the socio economic status of the people of Ghana by concocting stories around a man of peace and vision.

In the NDCs strategy, the only way of drowning and dousing every negative story affecting the president and his government is to bring the name of Akufo Addo into the lime light and attack his integrity with outright fabrication and propaganda doinh this so rudimental without any finesse.

After unsuccessfully attacking the character of Akufo Addo and woefully failing to denigrate this gem of a man for many years, the man of peace and vision has even wronh his worse critics wrong. The consolidation of his inner constitution, sincere demeanour and expressions bear umpteenth testimony of his character as a man of respect, decorum and circumspection; he is indeed a man of peace and vision.

The John Mahama Administration continues to be bedevilled with reports of massive corruption in high places. Almost every public / government transaction under this administration have witness shady and underhand dealings. The various questionable “judgment debts”, GYEEDAs, SUBHAs, and ISOFOTONs, WATERVILEs, SADAs and the impending sale of the Merchant Bank are some of the many corruption allegations begging for pragmatic solutions and answers from the president.

Finding no clue in solving these issues, President Mahama and his NDC members have contracted a man called Anthony Kwabena Abebrese RAU, a Ghanaian domiciled in Germany who poses himself as a Human Rights Activists to churn out statement in an interview with an Accra base radio station that Akufo Addo had had a heart surgery while in Europe.

After failing to attack the character and integrity of a man of peace and vision, they have resorted to cling to straw by focusing on his health, but in the hands of the Almighty, Akufo Addo’s health is extremely excellent.

This Communist Inferior Tactics (CIT) has no place in the 21st century where information technologies have provided numerous platforms to check and cross check information in real time. Just by a click of a button or using any android or Microsoft or ipad devise, one is able to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of any information.

However, without any shred of evidence to back his claim, this Rau man has been allowed to put out the greatest deception of our time in order to satisfy his paymaster.

As a real man of peace and vision, Akufo Addo’s decision to take a well-deserved rest from politics and cool off in the United Kingdom was commendable. Prior to his departure, his humble Nima residence witnessed a beehive of activities. People from all walks of lives, local and international dignitaries paid courtesy calls to commend his magnanimity in accepting the Supreme Court’s verdict on the election petition.

The anxiety and fear that were envisaged by many Ghanaians and the international community were peacefully and humbly put to rest by Akufo Addo’s acceptance speech. A man of peace and vision, Akufo Addo showed a lot of circumspection and his genuine desire to ensure Ghana’s peace and development when his stated that:

*“**It is now up to all of us Ghanaians to put the dispute behind us and come together to iron out our differences, ease the tensions among us, and come together to build our country. There are myriads of problems facing us as a people. This is the time for us all to come together and work to find solutions to the challenges that confront our people”.*

Politicians in the calibre of Akufo Addo are rare in many African countries where election disagreements had resulted in conflicts with many lives lost and properties destroyed.

His popularity has grown beyond bounds. National and international media thronged his residence to report on his meetings. The decision to cool off in the UK was therefore a very welcome relief to President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, as the focus on him (Akufo Addo) would have been reduced at least until his return.

It is therefore very intriguing that the very President who has been given the political space to run the affairs of the state without worrying about the huge attention given to the man of peace and vision would orchestrate to wake up the “resting political giant”.

On the palpable lie about the health of a man of peace and vision, the office of Akufo Addo has come out with a press statement, denying the story that Akufo Addo had ever undergone surgery. In fact the press statement reiterated the itinerary of the illustrious Ghanaian politician including working on a book likely to be published in 2015. Over the last couple of months, Akufo Addo had been seen on various public platforms and meetings in UK, France and the United States of America.

We do not wish our adversaries any ill and would like to state without any equivocation of doubt, that the man of peace and vision has had no surgery whatsoever and that he is healthy and kicking. Soon and very soon, Akufo Addo would be returning to Ghana to declare his resolve to contest the flagbeareship position of the New Patriotic Party. If by the will of the Almighty and with the magnanimity of the NPP delegates his mandate is renewed, the man of peace and vision would contest the 2016 presidential election.

Let’s give Akufo Addo a chance.
