Akufo-Addo's Silence Is Too Deafening!!!

Fri, 1 Feb 2008 Source: Webb, Kofi

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the man who is strutting around with a questionable victory that has forced him on the NPP as its presidential candidate, is too quiet for the liking of right-thinking Ghanaians.

Akufo-Addo, by no stretch of the imagination, can be described as quiet character.

Akuf-Addo's loudness is very legendary and it is for that reason that right-thinking Ghanaians cannot fathom the reason for his silence on the matter of his alleged association with hard drugs.

Kofi Wayo, a one-time closet member of the NPP, has made it public more than once that he knows it for a fact that Akufo-Addo is hooked on to hard drugs and that he has evidence to prove his point.

Kofi Wayo, a few days ago on Radio Gold actually quoted a case number claiming he has in his possession documents to prove that Akufo-Addo was once busted with cocaine at JFK and Akufo-Addo was only able to wriggle his way out because he convinced the airport authorities that it was for his personal use.

Indeed, Kofi Wayo has asked Akufo-Addo to go and have his blood tested and make the results public to prove that he is not a user of hard drugs.

For some inexplicable reason, neither Akufo-Addo nor any of his rather loquacious spokespersons and close aides have bothered to clear the air on the very strong allegations made by Kofi Wayo, and their silence is nothing but deafening.

Akufo-Addo and his henchmen are not people who shy away from the media and it is a known fact that the Akufo-Addo camp has some of the most acerbic tongues in the country.

The likes of Gabby Asare Otchere Darko, Nana Asante Bediatuo, Kwame Akufo, Mustapha Hamid, Nana Fredua Ofori Atta, Nana Yaa Ofori Atta, Ursula Owusu, and, co, are very loud people who don?t hesitate to chew up anything that comes their way so why the deafening silence on the drug matter as it pertains to Akufo-Addo?

I ask again; why the deafening silence from Akufo-Addo and his boys?

A case of silence means consent?

Is it true that Akufo-Addo is on drugs and so cannot come out to deny the information put out by no less a person than Kofi Wayo?

Is Akufo-Addo hoping that his silence will make the matter die a natural death?

Is it true that the Akufo-Addo camp believes that the NDC will not join Kofi Wayo in asking him questions with regard to his use or nonuse of hard drugs, and so is playing the ostrich and hoping that the matter will fall along the wayside?

In the matter of Akufo-Addo's supposed involvement in the recent Bawku conflict, Akufo-Addo was quick to call into Joy FM's Newsfile programme three weeks ago to clear the air as regards him being the one who stoked the flames.

Indeed, it was in his attempt to rubbish the claim, that Akufo-Addo verbally attacked Joy FM's Matilda Asante when all the latter did, was to ask an innocent question.

As far as Akufo-Addo was concerned, he has been in politics for more than '35' years and so did not need Matilda to 'school' him on 'matters of politics'. Trust Akufo-Addo and his haughtiness.

On that programme, we remember Alex Segbefia, Campaign Coordinator for the NDC 2008 campaign, telling Akufo-Addo to make sure that he acts with the same swiftness on all matters that will concern his person as the days roll by.

If Akufo-Addo was able to act with alacrity as regards clearing the air on his supposed involvement in the Bawku conflict, why is Akufo-Addo not acting with the same swiftness to clear the air on Kofi Wayo?s telling revelation that Akufo-Addo is addicted to hard drugs?

Or Akufo-Addo does not consider the drug matter to be as important as the Bawku matter, that is why he is keeping a stony silence over the matter?

Right-thinking Ghanaians will like to assure Akufo-Addo and his boys that their silence over the drug matter is not going to help them at all.

Akufo-Addo and his boys should know that the drug matter is an issue of concern to right-thinking and decent-minded Ghanaians and so we will not allow the matter to die.
With Kufuor acting on emotion and creating a lot of tension in the country via the sacking of Francis Poku and his subsequent absconding into political exile, Ghana cannot afford to have a president who will get high on drugs and take certain senseless decisions that will throw our dear country into a state of anarchy and chaos.

Kwame Nkrumah's Ghana certainly does not deserve a junkie as a president and Akufo-Addo will have to come clean on the matter sooner than later.

If Akufo-Addo continues to play deaf and dumb on this drug matter, right-thinking Ghanaians will have no option but to swallow hook, line, and sinker, the information that Kofi Wayo has put out and believe that indeed, Akufo-Addo is addicted to hard drugs i.e., wee, cocaine, heroin, etc.

By the way, is it true that Akufo-Addo sneaked out of Ghana to London to go and de-intoxicate his system?

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, speak now or forever be in the know that Kofi Wayo?s assertion will hold sway.
