Akufo-Addo storms Manhyia on Wednesday?

Folks, when the NPP's Akufo-Addo sought to distance himself from the fire that he himself set in the NPP as a result of his madcap politics that divided the party's ranks more than uniting them for Election 2012---and after manipulating the situation to avoid being torn into shreds at the loss of the elections---he did two main things:

1. He sought solace in the UK but sent out his ventriloquists to do his groundwork for Election 2016. They were all over the place, singing his song while intimidating all those emerging as his opponents in the party.

He himself managed to dash down to the United States on the quiet to do his own bidding toward Election 2016 while deceptively insisting that he was waiting to see the face of God to be told his future political direction---as if he hadn't had a premeditated decision on his stance to contest Election 2016.

When he decided to return home in late February, he turned round to say that returning at that time (close to the original date for the NPP's national delegates' congress on March 1) might be (mis)construed as his manipulating the delegates to choose national officers sympathetic to his cause. He consequently postponed that visit after the congress had been re-scheduled for April 12.

Last Wednesday night, he arrived in the country and immediately put his plan "B" into action:

2. He announced that he had seen the face of God and been told his future political direction but won't announce it until he had conferred with the NPP's elders. He repeated same when some people visited him at home.

So, the general feeling among his unwitting followers is that he will announce his stance soon; but those of us who have seen through all that veil of self-deception aren't ignorant of his cunning approach.

We long ago said that he won't remove himself from contention. He will definitely express his resolve to lead the NPP to Election 2016. All that he has been doing is an extension of the hide-and-seek game that he has found convenient to play with the NPP followers all this while.

Tell them, and they use their hearts (emotions) and mouths (insults, vain threats, and desperate defence of his lost cause) instead of their heads (rational thinking) in reaction.

Even before he can get to know what happened "behind his back" in the 6 months that he chose to "hibernate" in the UK, he is letting himself loose in pursuit of his sterilizing political ambition.

For him, it is an irresistible urge to lead the NPP again; and it is that morbid desire which defines, shapes, and shaves all that he is doing and will continue to do till he is horse-whipped again at Election 2016.

To give vent to it all, he is reported to be gearing up "to storm" the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday. Where else can he seek sympathy and test the pulse of the NPP members than Kumasi (described by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the party, Wontumi as the "heartbeat of the NPP")?

From the elaborate programme of action lined up for him, no one who thinks straight should fail to know how he has already stepped up his campaign.

Intriguingly, though, the forces within the party rooting for him and doing his hatchet job have already managed to intimidate his opponents to such an extent as to create the impression that "No Nana, No Vote"!!

How easy isn't it for these people to trap themselves into absurdity? Such political intrigues, no doubt, end up fostering a sense of desperation.

This kind of politics of deception ends in nothing but disaster. Let him storm Manhyia now. At election time, the voters will storm and stomp him.

I shall return…
