In the much vicious and energetic political campaigns between Vice President Kama Harris for the Democrats and former President Donald Trump for the Republicans in the USA, Donald Trump has made an unimaginable history comeback by cruising to victory as the 47th President of the USA.

The victory of former President Donald Trump in the fiercely contested US Presidential race against Kamala Harris on November 5, 2024 in the US was not only historic in magnitude but also has some striking semblance in context with that of Ghana’s upcoming Presidential race on December 7, 2024.

Therefore, the positive electoral outcome for Trump is a good omen for Mahama to win in the December Polls due to these 3 main similar reasons adduced in the following paragraphs of this short piece.

FIRST-TERM PRESIDENT: The first-term President Trump got a convincing win with 301 electoral votes and over 52% of popular votes to go back to the White House on 20th January 2025 after comfortably defeating the sitting Vice President of the US, Kamala Harris. This massive win for Donald Trump was historic for the Republicans for over 2 decades.

The win for Trump is ominous for Mahama’s victory because the latter is also a first-term President of Ghana and currently contesting the sitting Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to occupy the Jubilee House on January 7, 2025.

ECONOMIC HARDSHIPS: Among other crucial issues for Americans in the November 5 elections e.g. immigration, abortion, global wars and economic issues were high on the list of many voters.

Apart from global wars, immigration and abortion issues crucial to Americans, Donald Trump was able to expose the insincerity of the sitting Vice President Harris on high inflation and general economic hardships caused by poor management of the economy by President Biden-led government.

Trump promised Americans to normalize the difficult economic situation and create more jobs for Americans as well as stop the ongoing Russia-Ukraine and Isreal-Gaza wars, etc. This has resonated very well with most Voters in America who turned out to vote massively for him.

Like America, Ghanaians also prioritize the issues of the economy and job creation as crucial reasons for their choice of the next President of Ghana after this disappointing Akufo-Addo’s regime.

Several Polls so far strongly projected former President Mahama to win massively in the upcoming December general elections due to his great track record of developmental projects, visionary leadership and commitment to solving the economic, social and environmental mess caused by this current Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led regime for the past 8 years in Ghana.

Akufo-Addo and Bawumia have failed to keep the inflation rate and exchange rate in check, leading to excruciating hardships for Ghanaians. Like Vice President Harris, Bawumia is promising to do differently from his boss, Akufo-Addo if elected as President.

He even promised to abolish the e-levy, emissions tax, 10% of the betting tax, etc., which is highly unlikely since Akufop-Addo and Bawumia will not remove their nuisance taxes they imposed on ghanaians before the general elections in December 2024. This stance of Bawumia is highly hypocritical and should be completely rejected by Ghanaians in the upcoming Presidential race.

NEED FOR CHANGE: Like the Americans who have changed the badly performing Biden-Harris-led government, Ghanaians are also poised to change this disappointing Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led regime and bring back the first-term former President Mahama in Ghana like Trump who won convincingly in America a few weeks ago.

In Ghana, the worsened corruption, national debt, arrogance of power, high-tech galamsey operations, bastardization of state institutions and general hardships under this current Akufo-Addo-Bawumia-led regime require immediate change via the ballot box to reset and rebuild the country by voting for John Dramani Mahama and the NDC come December 7, 2024.

Conclusion

There is every indication that former President Mahama will win resoundingly in the upcoming December polls in Ghana, as also happened in the US, where Donald Trump made a historic win in the November 5, 2024 general elections.

Dr. Bawumia has proven over the 8 years to be highly incompetent, dishonest, and will not be his own man as President after Akufo-Addo is done with his last term in office for obvious reasons.

Trump is back in a historic manner and Mahama will also be back again in a historic fashion to finish their second terms together. We should all vote massively for former President Mahama as the 6th President of the 4th Republic of Ghana to get the job done. Ghana needs a better change!
