Assessment of state ministers

Wed, 2 Feb 2005 Source: Kyei, Kwesi

Assessment of state ministers should not be based solely on their ministerial performances and capabilities, besides their moral behaviour must also be scrutinised to guide those who aspire for such positions.

A genuine survey confirmed that most of the street children are the products of such immoral behaviour exhibited by Dr Richard Anane and due to his social position and influence he has got friends and love ones to care for his son. It is instructive to note that, one of the rationals behind the setting up of the ministry of women and children affairs is to address women and children in such situation, as upbringing and nurturing of children is not the sole responsibility of a woman, both parents have the moral obligation and duty to care and give parental love and guidance to their children.

As Dr Richard Anane?s social status and influence has given him the leverage to have friends and love ones to care for his son, what are the society doing about those unfortunate children in the similar circumstances?

The result are the countless street children which the government, NGO, religious organisations are finding it extremely difficult to address, should society encourage such immoral traits? Those defending Dr Richard Anane should visit waju and other allied women advocacy groups to verify numerous complains filed against men on such immoral behaviours. Finally, public officers must exhibit high sense of moral decency, to serve as a role model for younger and generation yet unborn to follow.
