Bawku Up For Grabs

…..as court confirms that Bawku MP is a foreigner!!!

NPP never stops amazing Ghanaians with their undaunted commitment in selling the pride, heritage and the good treasures of this country. After electing a cocaine dealer to high office of a Member of Parliament, the NPP is up to it again!! Currently saddled with series of damning corruption allegation which include the famous P.C. Appiah Ofori’s $5,000 GT/Vodafone Kickback deal of which new developments have implicated Kwadwo Mpeani and his boss Kuffour as well as the former foreign minister cum rice master Hon. Osei Agyei’s corruption scandal, which is currently being probed has given course for worry and despair in the body politic of this country.

As if all their unholy acts were not enough, they have succeeded in smuggling an expatriate into parliament. On Wednesday the 15th July, 2009 an Accra High Court ruled that Mr. Adamu Daramani-Sakande an NPP MP is not a citizen and for that matter not qualified to be a Member of Parliament of the Republic of Ghana. This worthy course was championed by a herdsman who believed that Ghanaians are being taken for a ride, by allowing NPP to bring foreigners to rule our own land for us. Kudos to Sumaila, these are the patriotic citizens of our country who needs to be awarded and acknowledged, not the who people betrayed this country yet are awarded with the tax payers money.

These unholy attempts were made in several constituencies including Abuakwa South Constituency and a host of others. But the question is why was the NPP burnt on using foreigners to siphon our resources to other countries at the expense of the very vulnerable and hungry Ghanaian?

Indeed this is an unbelievable affront to the laws of the republic of Ghana and for that matter a criminal offence which the Attorney General must take up and ensure that the he is prosecuted for treason. It was a well schemed treason for an expatriate to be allowed in the first place to contest last year’s election; this actually implicates the Electoral Commission and all other bodies which were involved in establishing the eligibility of the Candidates.

The way the NPP are currently handling P.C Appiah Ofori indicates that they don’t even believe in the freedom of speech and whistle blowers act of which they profess to be masters of. They have now resorted to defaming through every means possible, to the extent of using fish mongers to drag his name in the mud. How can P.C. be a fish monger?

This particular issue seems to have cast an indelible indictment on our democratic credentials of Ghana, of which Barack Obama said can help advance democracy and unlock Africa’s potential as well as human right for people everywhere.

Consequently, the implication of this act is the financial loss the NPP irresponsibility will cause the state as the tax payers money would have to be used for another by-election instead of channeling it into the improvement of the livelihoods of the people. It is upon this background that I call on the government to take an immediate action to bring to book all those who were involved in establishing the eligibility of Mr. Adamu Daramani-Sakande to contest the Parliamentary election in Bawku.
