Big Guns To Tain

Inspite of documented evidence of wide spread irregularities in results from parts of Ashanti, The NDC for the sake of peace have heeded respectfully to the verdict of the EC and will humbly wait for Friday’s voting at Tain. We of the Abuakwa South NDC urge the big guns of our party not to leave the manning and monitoring of polling stations at Tain to either the able local polling agents or Regional executives. The big guns must descend on Tain in droves and pair up with local agents and monitoring groups to pre-empt the expected intimidation and brutalities witnessed in constituencies such as Abuakwa South.

The NPP’s quest to hold on to power is so fierce that it will do the unimaginable to clinch on. The sad events that occurred openly at Abuakwa South where droves of weapon wielding “Macho men” were transported from Accra to beat up, molest and chase out NDC’s polling agents to the woods whiles thump printed ballot papers in favor of Akufo Addo were shoved down into ballot boxes could rear its head in Tain if we take this constituency for granted and remember, we have seen NPP’s numbers magically doubled in some constituencies since December 7th. It is important to know that such acts of intimidation could and will rain heavily on Tain like it did on Abuakwa South. Tragically, these acts of intimidation prevented most farming settlers who form the core of NDC’s support base not to show up and cast their votes in Abuakwa South. We cannot allow this to happen in Tain. It has to be squashed in Tain.

The Tain constituency has suddenly become Ghana’s Florida and must be monitored with an eagle’s eye if we are to uphold and respect the true choice of Ghanaians. Based on our experiences at Abuakwa South, we will urge all our Big Guns to assume roles of polling agents and monitoring teams to ensure our farming communities in Tain comes out to vote without any threats on their lives or properties.

To Kweku Asante (Constituency Organizer) Kwame Ayensu (Branch Chairman) and all those who have sustained broken limps and multiple injuries as a result of NPP’s all out assault in Abuakwa South, I can assure you that the NDC we will continue to strive for a civil and just society in an Atta Mills government.
