TEN BIGGEST LOSERS
The UP/matemeho tradition – Their brand of politics (property owning democracy, agents of international capitalism) has been rejected by the Ghanaian people once again. And this time they will have no dictator or coup maker to blame as they hibernate for another 20 years.J. A. Kufuor – His greed, selfishness and vindictiveness (ask Dan Botwe and Osafo Maafo) cost his party big time. Danquah, Busia, Victor Owusu and co. will never forgive him when they meet him at Asamando. How could he have given power back to the devil (Rawlings/Nkrumah) so easily after staying in the wilderness for about 30 years? And NPP members will start blaming him openly after this resounding defeat.
Mahamadu Bawumia – If he had not been nominated by the NPP he would have been the next governor of the Bank of Ghana. The NDC win would have guaranteed him the position by virtue of his father’s NDC links. An NPP win too would have ensured same as they made him a deputy governor in the first place. He will still be a fine choice for the position if Fiifi wants to be all-inclusive. But the idea would certainly be killed by the Ahwois knowing that you can’t change him for 4 years if he gets the position and he might want to pay back the NPP through some kululu.
The Abuakwa Mafia – Asante Bediatuo, Amoatia Ofori Panin, Atta Akyea (the minister who never was), Amfo-Kwakye, Ken Ofori Atta, Gabby Asare Okyere Darko, etc. Their plan to create an elite class at the presidency never saw the light of day. Their Danquah Institute would also not be the think tank they wanted to use government funds to project. And we hope Gabby who had to be “helped” through law school by dubious lecturers would do away with his arrogance and fake slangs.
Nana Akufo Addo - Like Hillary he had a sense of entitlement and felt he had to be president by any means necessary. God didn’t make him one. Unlike Hillary Rodham though, his political career is over. He dare not run again in 4 years. The Ashantis would hold him accountable for not delivering Akyem country massively like they did.
Kwamena Bartels, Wereko-Brobby, Kassim Kasanga, Osafo-Maafo, Edumadze and the rest of the 18 who will soon have their days in court. No position is permanent ooo onua.
Maame Dorkono, Owuraku Amofa , Frances Essiam, Abraham Kofi Asante- The humiliation that has been felt by these stomach politicians should be a lesson to all such characters. No wonder they were booted off the campaign in the run up to the second round election.
The so-called fourth estate of the realm that refused to do their job. I am referring to Kabral Blay Amihere, Kofi Koomson, Kwaku Baaku, Egbert Fagbille, Joe Aggrey, Kwesi Biney, Affenyi Dadzie (she even wanted to be VEEP), etc. Now let’s see how they will come attacking the NDC in government again.
Kennedy Agyepong – “jimijimi”, “kwasea kwa”. Let him threaten MEN now. Ben Ephson – Next time when he eats gari and beans and wants to pass gas he should do so at home and stop blowing hot air all over the air waves. He needed to get this right to affirm his credibility as the leading pollster in Ghana. Missed it.
TEN BIGGEST WINNERS
1. The Ghanaian people and their democracy. Dadieso (and Ghana) is still standing after all the accusations, tapes, hit lists, and so on. We are truly the star of Africa. Donor funds will surely flow fuuuu even before the oil revenues trickle in. Eye zu.2. Kwesi Pratt – I can bet my 2 cents that he will be questioning the NDC when they go wrong and championing the cause of the under- privileged sooner than later, and the NPP will be calling him a hero. He’s the finest, independent- minded journalist in Ghana.
3. Chairman Rawlings – After being demonized by the NPP as a blood spiller, thug, bastard and fool who should never again come close to the corridors of power, he has “led” the NDC into power again. This guy defies all the theories in political science textbooks. They need to be rewritten. He has learnt his lessons though and you can trust that he will not “misbehave” again as we hold onto power for another 16/ 20 years.
4. Fiifi Mills – 5 elections against the NPP? Ho ho! How befitting that he gets to enjoy the west wing of the Golden Jubilee house specially built for him. His health might only let him go one term, but at least Naadu will now make peace with his away son in the presidency. God has made all things beautiful in his time.
5. Tsatsu Tsikata – Don’t be surprised to see Kufuor pardoning him before leaving office.
6. John Obama Mahama – His humility and sobriety endeared him to Ghanaians and his rise to the top of Ghana politics is only proper. He is on track to be the next president of Sikaman even though Spio Gabrah won’t agree with me.
7. The parliamentary caucus – Babgin, Kunbuor, Ampofo, Haruna, Ayariga, Doe Adjaho, etc kept the debates alive and brought issues such as the GT deal, Ghana at 50 nonsense, redenomination costs, Presidential Palace loan, scam loans, etc to the fore. It’s about time Babgin and Adjaho joined the executive branch after 16 years of hear hear.
8. Alex Segbefia (The architect) – The fine lawyer came down from London with fresh ideas and run an effective campaign. He pushed aside the Huudu Yahyas, Totobi Quakyis, Okaidja Adamafios, etc and infused fresh blood. His message of change honed from Kuku Hill was spot on.
9. Sekou Nkrumah – He just couldn’t stand the injustice in town and made a bold move by breaking away from his father’s CPP. He found solace though in the CPP of today (NDC). His ministerial appointment is assured but he might turn it down.
10. a) The young guns – Fiifi Kweetey, Ayariga, Baba Jamal, Dr. Omane, Afriyie Ankrah, Haruna Iddrisu, Koku Anyidohu, Ofori-hene, etc. Anybody who doubted the dynamism these young guns brought to the NDC must have been joking. Their “setting the records straight” press confabs were aggressive.
b) The radio guns – Tony Aidoo, Ofosu Ampofo, Ama “Chavez” Benyiwaa-Doe, Twumasi Appiah. They really challenged the aristocracy.
c) The internet guns – Charles Nkansah and his cohorts
d) CJA – The modern day Alliance for Change really kept the government on its toes but they won’t listen. That’s what arrogant fools do. Ask George Bush.
