Blame football managers in Ghana - Philip Opoku Sampene

Soccer Legend, Philip Opoku Sampene has tasked managers of Ghana football to put in mechanisms which will make local football appetizing as bait to curtail the rapid departure of half-baked talents from leaving the shores of Ghana to play in ‘’unknown leagues’’.

In a chart with Radio B.A.R in Sunyani, Sampene affectionately called ‘’Soccer Messiah’’ was nostalgic of his days when stadium get full by 11am on match days and blamed the cause on the managers of the game.

According to him, clubs are much interested in ‘’boardroom tactics and mafiaso "than the players welfare." When was the last time Ghanaian club made name in a continental championship? Players leave Ghana league to play in Sudan, Vietnam, Thailand etc.

In my days, players would play in the league for years. It is sickening to read some of the transfer news but you can’t blame the players too much".

He ended his chart with advise to football managers to sign on quality players and also tasked club chairmen to see to it that ,the football governing body play their role effectively in ensuring fairness in Ghana’s league.

Sampene featured for Asante Kotoko, Okwawu United, Bofoakwa Tano, Africa Sports of Ivory Coast , AA Gent of Belgium etc.

Currently, Sampene is attached to the youth team Glasgow Rangers of Scotland and also pursuing his last coaching license.
