Linda Ocloo is the Greater Accra Regional Minister
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, is a disgrace and embarrassment to her office and her government.
I can recall at her vetting, she boastfully promised to fix all street lights in the city within the first 100 days in office.
It's been 17 months, and no sign of any lights on the streets. My usual route is from Dansoman to Old Barrier to Bojo Beach. All the way from Roundabout, all the way through Malam Market, McCarthy, Weija, Tetegu to Old Barrier, not a single street light on the street,t forcing drivers to use high beams to "blind" oncoming drivers. Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown. You opened your mouth too wide when you didn't know your budget and the dynamics of your office.
Recently, the media dealt with your slippery mouth. This time I also want to take you on as well as the Member of Parliament for the Bortianor, as well as the Mayor of Accrar, Michael Kpakpo Allotey. The three of you combined are worthless in my opinion.
I will tackle the Regional Minister on her promise during her vetting. Most of the streets from Sakaman, McCarthy, Tetegu, to Bortianor are in total darkness, and you should know the risk it poses to individuals and citizens of these areas. Aside from the darkness, traffic lights that regulate traffic without police presence are all malfunctioning.
What's your excuse, Miss Boastful?
As a matter of urgency, make a move to illuminate the streets of such a major highway and coordinate with the proper authorities to repair the traffic lights at the major intersections. This is a dent on the reset agenda and disgraceful to your office. I believe you have failed the residents from Malam Market to Old Barrier. I didn't mention SCC, West Hill Mall, heading to Tuba and Kasoa. You are a complete and total failure based on your boast during your vetting to fix all broken street lights within your 100 days in office, and you have failed after 17 months.
I will move on to the MP for Bortianor. He is only in parliament for his pay and committee allowances. Otherwise, the main street from Old Barrier, through Old Aplaku, Tsokome, Bartionor to Oshyie is in such a deplorable state that one will think, this is not in the city and the Regional capital.
A drive from the Old Barrier to Tsokome should not take more than 10 minutes on a normal road.
Unfortunately, it takes about 25 minutes because of the bad nature of the road and the numerous potholes, the dangers to drivers, and avoiding the potholes puts both pedestrians and other drivers at risk for a road accident. One can count about 100 potholes between the main junction and Borianor. This is unacceptable when we have a representative who was voted for to serve the interests of the constituents.
What is our Common Fund doing, and does our MP have the capacity and ability to lobby the Road Minister Kwame Agbodza to improve the only road serving thousands of residents from Old Barrier to Oshyie to connect Kasoa?
Unfortunately, since the MP was elected into Parliament, he has not set foot on the road under discussion or engaged the constituents. This is because he is distant or sees us as agents for voting from the community, as he resides far from his constituency,y and nothing concerns him, until the election, when he will come back with rice, oil, a t-shirt, and cash to buy the conscience of some of the people for another four years.
Many resident businesses have collapsed, related to the red dust inhalation putting them at risk of ear, nose,e and throat infection in addition to daily dust on their wares. Member of Parliament, by your conduct, you don't deserve to be honorable.
Both you and the Regional Minister should up your game by fixing the street lights, traffic lights, and the road from the Old Barrier to Oshyie.
It's urgent for the two of you to have a personal experience. You are insulated from the problems of the ordinary person who voted for you. This is unacceptable.
