CPP: Anti-Nduom Victorious! Political Slate Clean! Not Yet Uhuru!

Today, a basic principle for the anti-neocolonial struggle of the Convention Peoples’ Party (CPP) is that it is the struggle of our people, and that it is our people who must wage it, and therefore its result is ultimately for our people. Obviously a people’s struggle is effectively theirs if the reason for that struggle is based on the aspirations and the desire for justice and progress of the people themselves and not on the aspirations, dreams or ambitions of a single individual who contradicts the actual interests of the people of Ghana.

Now that Kwesi Nduom has finally packed his baggage from the CPP, his move understandably can be described as another but second defeat of the clutches of imperialism over the CPP which has for years raped it internally from political growth. No matter the pessimistic feeling of anti-CPP elements, the political slate is now clean and it is clean from the germs of inconsistencies, individualistic arrogance, greed for individual power as against collective organisation and pure but covert hatred against Nkrumah’s Socialist ideological framework for effective political organisation. This victory can only be attributed to the victory of the majority of party members whose commitment has been to continue to strive and build a mass political front fit to withstand the emerging political and economic struggles ahead.

For now the CPP can do away with a character, whose political identity is shaped by alleged serious fraud investigation report, gross disrespect for party structures, indiscipline and leaked US diplomatic cables. The party’s committed members and sympathisers continue to show their support and confidence in the current leadership, especially for their ability to ensure discipline especially at the top level. Deep throats confirm that many of party faithful in all the regions and some parts of Accra and Ada express their joy and happiness, that at long last the CPP can now have a breathing space for effective, well-discipline organisation at the polling station level towards election 2012.

An important point worth making is that this particular victorious struggle is just the tip of the large struggle yet to be overcome and that even though the large struggle with its lingering manifestation of both NPP and NDC in a cat and mouse dominance over our lives will soon be history. Besides, this large struggle yet to be defeated finds its roots in the fundamental question of whether the majority of our people control and manage the production and distribution of the resources in this country. Of course, the CPP have consistently remained the only party that fully champions a radical position for Ghanaian ownership and control of their wealth.

It also remains the only political organisation which can provide the answer to this question by presenting to Ghanaians the organisation capable of expressing that need for full control and management of our wealth and to present a caring Government that believes in the people and their ability to organise for their economic sustenance. It is time to direct our energies to consolidating unity and focus against the second phase of the struggle.

Our party is still strong and open to every Ghanaian who is prepared to show discipline, hardwork, and commitment to the party’s programme and ideology. We must therefore do our duty as well as possible, to provide all the potential for progress of which we are now on course. Anyone who has ambitions for chieftaincy in the party will sooner and later leave. Anyone who thinks that tomorrow our policy will be at the bidding of one or other imperialist nation will leave, because we are struggling for economic dignity for Ghanaians.

Kwame Nkrumah, in chapter seven (7) of “*Africa Must Unite*”, stressed that “*it is becoming axiomatic that colonial powers do not willingly retire from political control over any given land. Before they go they make superhuman efforts to create schisms and rivalries which they hope to exploit after they have gone*”.

With this quote as reference, it would be significant to express on behalf of the progressive forces who in several ways have ensured the defeat of Nduom from the CPP and that if any attempt, by those gang of reactionary elements in CPP who affirm their loyalty to Nduom, to purposely disrupt and cause acts of mischief against the leadership of our dear party, it would be fought severely. Otherwise they would have no choice but to exit with Nduom.
