What About NDC Rawlings And NDC Mills?

The Deputy National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Captain Akamba, has down played alleged threats by some political opponents in Ghana that the country would be plunged into chaos and anarchy, should the NDC decide to rig the 2012 elections.

Captain Akamba said Ghanaians have enjoyed relative peace and tranquility under successive governments, and as such would not entertain any group or individual who attempt to perpetuate their political agenda through violence and commotion.

According to the NDC Deputy Organizer, Ghana has gone through major democratic and electoral transformations over the years, which has earned it many accolades as the beacon of hope and bastion of democracy in Africa, and that the NDC would not be interested in jeopardizing the image and dignity that the country has earned amongst its peers.

Reacting to statements by some personalities in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), including the National Youth Organizer, Anthony Abaryifaa Karbo that the opposition party was ready to confront the ruling government in the 2012 elections, Captain Akamba said the NDC would not win the 2012 elections by rigging neither would it adopt intimidating tactics in approaching the general elections.

"The NDC has an enviable track record of organizing peaceful elections; we did it in 1992, 1996 and 2000, so why would anybody think that we will rig the 2012 elections?” Akamba said.

What is Captain Akamba, the Deputy National Organizer of NDC saying about the NDC Foot-Soldiers Storming Radio Gold in Accra?

A blood thirsty mob that was armed to the teeth and alleging to be members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) raided the premises of Radio Gold, an Accra-based private radio station, ostensibly to lynch a radio panelist for “offensive comments” he made against the Presidency.

The armed mob scaled the wall of the building that houses the radio station, struggled with and overpowered security men, after which they invaded the building and moved from one office to another in search of their prey, Ras Mubarak.

Ras, who described himself as an apostle of Rawlings, stated, “It would not serve the interest of the NDC if Mills fails, but it was important for the President to help build trust.”

The angered Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, special assistant to President Mills, ordered his ‘troop’ to invade the station. The group, numbering about 20, went to the station that day around 11:20am driven in a green van with registration number GN 6640 Y to ostensibly teach Ras Mubarak a lesson.

They claimed Ras Mubarak had made disparaging comments about Nii Lantey Vanderpuye,(NDC) their master, on the programme ‘Alhaji and Alhaji’.

Riot police in full gear had to be called in to separate the two sides as supporters of Rawlings (NDC) also mobilized themselves to the station to support Mubarak, who was under attack from the Mills (NDC) side.

By the time supporters of Jerry Rawlings heard of the incident and organized themselves from the Zongo Communities in Accra to launch a counter-attack on the first group, the situation had been brought under control.

According to Ras Mubarak, “they said they wanted to kill me because I had criticized Nii Lantey Vanderpuye”

Now when driving I have to be looking into my side mirrors to see which vehicle is trailing me and I keep dodging because my life is at stake. This is happening just when there are reports of an assassination attempt on Kofi Adams so now anyone who speaks for President Rawlings must be victimized, said Mubarak.

The Deputy National Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Captain Akamba, must not “only advice the cat but also advice meat”.

Not also forgetting that “an insect biting you is usually hidden in your own cloth.”

“War drums can only be beaten by those in possession of drums”.

While Akamba is reacting to statements by some personalities in the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) he must see his own NDC Teams “A” & “B” (Rawlings and Mills) as “fire and Gas”.
