Ghana like many other countries in the world is heading to the polls this year to elect their parliamentarians, prime ministers, and or, president.

The onus to ensure that credible candidates are elected to fill positions of higher responsibilities is on the electorates.

It is therefore just right for me as a Ghanaian by birthright to appeal to my fellow Ghanaians both home and abroad to campaign and vote for Dr. Bawumia who currently is mocked by the NDC and their agents, assigns, and sympathizers as the “driver’s mate”.

For the NDC, a driver’s mate is equally culpable for the driving offenses committed by the driver when the mate is working with him when caught. Is it?

The driver is at the steering wheel while the mate is either sitting beside him in the front cabin or normally in the passenger’s area of the vehicle. How then could the mate be equally responsible and hence held accused of the same crime of the driver running over a pedestrian, or driving the motor, thus, the passenger car or truck into the ditch?

Does it sound intelligent in your ears that the driver’s mate be arrested and prosecuted for the driving offenses committed by his master (the driver) for the fact that both are on the passenger bus, coach, or truck at that material time of the commitment of the crime?

Even though Dr Bawumia is the vice president, he cannot be held fully accountable for any alleged blameable presidential offenses committed by his boss, President Nana Akufo-Addo, that may have brought untold socio-economic hardships upon Ghanaians.

However, the NDC is holding him squarely responsible, the driver’s mate they mockingly take him for.

Why paint him with the same brush as being used to paint President Nana Akufo-Addo, if indeed, all the economic hardships Ghanaians are facing are the handiwork of President Nana Akufo-Addo, but without any external shocks as are the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war?

I have seen what Mr John Dramani Mahama as president of Ghana did, so to speak a metaphorical driver, for almost four and a half to five years in office.

Being a mate is different from being the driver himself; each has their specific responsibilities, although, they work as a team.

Have you ever heard about a worker being said to be a team player and another being said to not be a team player? How about that?

Fellow Ghanaians, you have witnessed what driver Mahama did, what he could achieve without any world pandemic or war of worldwide devastating impact.

We are seeing the problems Ghana is going through amidst the aftermath ravages of Covid-19, Russia-Ukraine war, and the obviously tactical sabotage by the NDC and John Mahama against the NPP government to bring them down, all for want of political power.

To conclude, I will convey to the attention of fellow Ghanaians, especially the electorates, what is said about a Greek philosopher. I quote, “Trying to achieve moral virtue is not easy, the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle taught. If you must pick between two extremes, choose “the lesser of two evils,” because that’s likelier to bring you to the desired middle way“.

By all indications and empirical observations, Dr Bawumia would be the lesser evil to cause less harm to Ghana or the economy if he became the actual driver as John Mahama was, but not the driver’s mate.

Being fully in charge of something is different from being partially in charge of it. The authority to wield is not the same.

All the supporters of Kennedy Agyapong (Hon.), please bury your hatchets to join the writer to garner more winning votes for Dr Bawumia by being out and canvassing for him and NPP.

Therefore, please heed the sounding clarion call by the bold and proud son of Kumawu/Asiampa soil, to vote for Dr Bawumia in the upcoming December 7, 2024, general election.
