Commentary - Akufo-Addo’s Newly-Developed Political Frolics

Tue, 11 Sep 2012 Source: The Informer

Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), in recent times is constantly tickling himself amidst wild giggling. He goes round places forcing himself to look extra-humble, but in the next minute, his posturing changes.

President John Mahama, in his own little wisdom, decided that it would be wise and honorable to break ice with leaders of other political parties, in order to take the country’s politics to another level.

Then Mr. All-Die-Be-Die, Mr. Know All, Mr. Win At All Cost, had the impudence to set out certain conditions to the President before any such meeting, should that noble idea come to fruition.

Interestingly, Nana Addo’s conditions included the investigation of skirmishes that took place during the Atiwa by-election.

Ei! Nana Addo, the very person captured on his infamous All-Die-Be-Die tape, claiming that the NPP showed something small at Atiwa. It should not surprise Ghanaians that Nana Addo is making such demands before meeting with President Mahama. Nana Addo is just trying to come clean of the Atiwa violence, because, his hands are clearly painted with blood of Atiwa. He should have been bold to tell President Mahama that, myself and the party that I lead; the NPP had a larger role in the violence that erupted at Atiwa in the Eastern Region, instead of trying to outsmart Ghanaians. Nana Addo, with all respect, please be bold enough to tell Ghanaians ‘Bribi Ketewaa Mo Ye Wo Atiwa No’.

Ghanaians are not the type of persons that Nana Addo can deceive overnight with his fresh developed political frolics.

His posturing depicts somebody who is desperate to turn his misfortunes into fortunes, and in so doing exposes himself to public derision.

With all the NPP position that Nana Addo has rich and impeccable experience in politics, the party should be ashamed of his position on the suggestion made by President Mahama to meet with political leaders.

In any case, President Mahama did not set out any conditions to meet with other political parties, but simply wanted to bring fresh ideas into Ghanaian politics.

Let Ghanaians assume, without admitting that, President Mahama does not have experience, but has been able to come with such idea, does it have to take Mr. Over Experienced, Nana Addo thwart his inimitable idea.

Nana Addo has clearly shown that he could never shy away from his All-Die-Be-Die mantra, and would not work with anybody to promote democracy in the country. Ghanaians are keenly watching him; and his new tricks that he is using to make Ghanaians believe that he is now a changed person will not save him. Nana Addo, President Mahama is not forcing to have a meeting with you in any way, so continue to live in cloud nine.
