Concerned Builders: Government must come straight about NABCO

If there has been great news about employment in Ghana over the years then it will certainly be about National Builders Corp (NABCO) which was introduced by this current government led by His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo.

This employment initiative which was to employ 100,000 Ghanaians was launched in May this year, something which was welcomed even though many talked about the remuneration not being enough. Nevertheless, it commenced in June, where graduates applied in good faith hoping to find something doing to gain experience and have something in their pockets.

Fast forward, it was to begin in August then it was postponed to September where graduates were later given a letter of intent (appointment). In the letter it was stated work commences in October 1st and as we speak, it has been moved to 17th of October even though Module Implementation Partners are still not known.

This is becoming frustrating and quite unfortunate on the part of the graduates who are looking forward to seize such an opportunity to begin their career. We are by this piece of writing making our grievances known to the President to make "things" happen as promised.

We have it that 90,000 have been given letters so, the question is what happens to the 10,000 left and what is the way forward? We hope the goal post won't be shifted as the days draw nigh.

Moreover, we want to let the government know, once we have received appointments stating days we have to start work we believe they are aware, at the end of the month of October we have to receive payment since it was not our fault we have not started work. It is legally binding once a consideration have been reached.

We are tired of the postponement and wish to state categorically and emphatically that it will be the highest form of disrespect to any country's youth to be promised jobs only for we to go through all processes and at the end it falls on stony ground like a seed sown. This is totally out of place.

Many of our colleagues had something little doing but thought NABCO was more better an opportunity because they get to serve their country whiles they earn something in return. As we speak now, they're regretting those decisions because it looks as though their backs are against the wall and they feel the grounds shaking. It will be heartbreaking when things fall apart.

We need an assurance since the date has been shifting as weeks pass by. It will be the greatest form of dishonesty if things keep going this way. We don't want to believe the government was not ready before letting us go through the process. We do not want to believe our Government wanted to give is false hope and we do not want to believe they just made things up to give us assurance than can't hold water.

NABCO coordinators across the regions and the board thereof. Make things happen for we are becoming impatient with the way things are being handled. A lot of promise and fail. It is becoming increasingly unsatisfactory of your office and the government.

We hope to hear something better. Something worth the respect of this great initiative. We cannot be tossed here and there. We expect great respect as we look forward to working with you and for Mother Ghana.

God bless all Nation builders !!!

God bless NABCO !!!

God bless Ghana !!!
