As calls grow for the President, John Dramani Mahama, to appoint a substantive Defence Minister, three months after the tragic death of the serving minister, I am pleased to call on the President to consider Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings for the position of Ghana's Defence Minister.

Her impressive educational background, wealth of experience, and leadership skills make her an ideal candidate for the role.

As a seasoned politician and a member of the government, Dr. Zanetor has proven herself to be a strong and capable leader, with a deep understanding of national security complexities. Her commitment to Ghana's development and advocacy for women's rights and national development are qualities that would serve her well in this critical role.

I believe that Dr. Zanetor's appointment would be a testament to the administration's commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and would strengthen Ghana's security apparatus. I urge President Mahama to consider her candidature for the position of Defence Minister.

Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings a third term Member of Parliament (MP) for Klottey Korle and daughter of the late former President Jerry John Rawlings, is currently the Chairperson of Select Committee on Security and Intelligence and a member of the Pan African Parliament (PAP), the legislative arm of the African Union (AU).

In addition to her medical profession education and experience, she holds Master's Degree in Conflict, Peace and Security (EMCPS) from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping and Training Centre (KAIPTC) and a number of Certificates in Defense Management, Conflict and Crisis Management, Women, Peace and Security, Counter Terrorism, and Counter-Improvised Explusive Device.

These credentials placed her as most fit to serve in the capacity of protecting the sovereignty of the country as a Defence Minister.
