Coronavirus: Our interest is to stop the spread and not to queue for Ghana or voter cards

What shall it profit NIA when it finishes its registration exercise and by which time majority of Ghanaians are infected with the deadly Covid-19 virus? This is one thought that keeps coming back to me. Is the registration exercise more important than the health of the citizenry in these trying times (not only in Ghana but the world over)?

Nana Akufo Addo was sworn in as our President to protect us the citizens. I think what is going on with the NIA registration goes contrary to the oath of protecting us. Why should an institution under our President's own watch be violating his own orders? What has become of the social gathering not more than twenty-five (25)?

Why were churches, mosques and schools activities halted? What is so special about NIA registration? Churches, mosques and schools could have also implemented all the prescribed precautionary measures NIA claims to have in place for which reason they continue to engage in the registration exercise which has the potential of exposing lots of Ghanaians to this deadly virus.

Please Mr. President the current interest of the Ghanaian is not queueing to have a Ghana card or voter card. It is how to control the spread of covid-19. It gets scary when the number of infection and death keep going up while that of recovering remains zero (0). An increase in the number of recovery would have brought some hope but that is not the case as of now.

NIA registration should not and must not be a priority now. The registration exercise can continue after the pandemic is over. We have lived in this country without Ghana card and can continue to live without Ghana card.

If President Akufo Addo is unable to call NIA to order, what it simply means is that our interest as Ghanaians currently is not that of the President.

I shall return.
