David Cameron Deserves Our Praise And Respect!

First of all, I would like to take the opportunity to thank David Cameron — the British Prime Minister. I do find his concern for the oppressed minority in our society admirable! I believe that a man shouldn't be judged by the color of his skin or his sexual preference. It's the content of one's character — which makes one worthy of being called a man! In one of my previous columns, I asserted that a civilized mind understands the need for tolerance, compassion and understanding. This is true! As human beings, we must be able to agree to disagree on issues. It’s only natural! Otherwise, what's the sense? Be who you are, but allow others to be who they are. This is my only advice! A free and fair society means equal rights for everybody — irrespective of gender or sexual orientation. In order words, a genuine democratic society acknowledges the importance of freedom — not just for some but for all. We all count!

That said, God fashioned human beings to be free. He permits us to make mistakes. He also permits us to learn from them. In brief, he's tolerant, understanding and loving. The nature of a civilized mind! Therefore, those professing to love God must learn to be tolerant, understanding and loving. It only makes sense! If God doesn't judge, then, who are we to judge? Tell me; wouldn’t it be blasphemous if we do so? See, a God-fearing person sees God's reflection in all of his creations. He/she doesn't look down on anybody. Such a person is humbled by what he/she sees! A God-fearing person doesn't hide behind culture — which was instituted by men — to hate his brother who is a reflection of the Divine. No, absolutely not. Such a person knows better! Mind you, to know God is to know knowledge. God is knowledge! So, a God-fearing person is knowledgeable — not ignorant.

We Ghanaians call ourselves Christians, Muslims or Traditionalists. We take pride in our respective affiliations — and understandably so! However, we don't know God. Simply because; we don't love our neighbors — much less accept them for what they are. Remember, life is full of contradictions — and only God knows why. That being said, Ghana is called a Christian country. Well, I beg to differ respectfully. A Christian country should have Christ-like citizens! Is this the case in Ghana? No, I don't think so. We have various churches, but none of them reform. We read the Bible on a daily basis — yet its wisdom and knowledge have eluded many of us. We profess to know God but we're ungodly in our thinking, ways and doings. We use voodoo to start churches — whilst calling ourselves Christians. The deception! We preach virtue but practice vice. This is hypocrisy at its best — and it stinks!

Now, I don't know if David Cameron is a religious man or not. In fact, it's totally irrelevant if he's or not. One thing is certain; he’s a man who believes that all men deserve to be treated with equality, dignity and respect. I acknowledge him for this — and so should you! Remember, what makes a nation great is how well it treats its citizens. Ghana is far from being great because of the hypocrisy of her citizens. We are in this mess because our minds are in a mess. I know that we wont admit it — but it’s true! The chaotic nature of our country is a reflection of the chaos in our minds. Let's clean up, shall we? To God, all of us are equal. One more thing; let’s stop depending on the West for petty dimes and nickels. It’s shameful and humiliating! Remember, God didn’t create us to depend on them. He created us to be self-dependent!

Considering all the treasures — which God has blessed us with, why do we have to go to the Europeans and beg them for money? It just doesn’t make sense! The Europeans should be begging us for money — not us from them. As a people — do you know what’s our problem? We have the mentality of a slave. I know that we didn’t get this mentality from God! So, where did we get it from? Please, think about this question.

Welcome 2 the New age of Consciousness!
