Daylight “Robbery” under the Watch of the National Democratic Congress Government

Wow! They say wonders shall never end. It is extremely difficult and unfathomable to accept the events and circumstances that prompted the government to “gift” a financier or bankroller of the ruling party (NDC)—Mr. Alfred woyome a whopping sum of GH¢58 million. This is in no uncertain terms ludicrous and I struggle to believe the president of Ghana could allow this fraud to occur in the first place. The question I would want to find answer to is this: is the president in charge of the affairs of the country? Or to put it differently is president Mills the president of the county or someone else? This second variation of the initial question might appear weird, but happenings in the country under his watch or rule insinuate that the president is not on top of developments in the country. I doubt if he is the one at the helm and suspect we have a de facto president behind the scenes. However, if he is the one at the helm, then his perceived righteousness is nothing, but an embellishment and a deliberate fabrication.

How on earth could such an amount that can lift the face of the country, put smiles on the faces of the poor, expand our infrastructural base be doled out to a party bankroller without the government putting up a fight for the nation. For me this is wickedness at the highest level and a betrayal of the masses who queued in the scorching sun to vote the National Democratic Congress to power. We have been given a raw deal by a government who cannot govern, who is not able to implement policies to transform the lives of the citizenry, but only try to paint the president as a saint when he is not. This image the propagandists of the NDC have erected or trying desperately to erect around the president is to deceive the masses into voting for the party. They are insincerely creating a false and misleading image about the president so that the vulnerable will continue to vote for him and his underperforming administration. They however forget that the Ghanaian is increasingly becoming more discerning and sophisticated.

Folks, I say with conviction that the Mills-led administration is incompetent due to the actions and inactions of some of the ministers of state. If you have an Attorney-General and his deputy who conveniently and deliberately decided not to defend the nation by doing due diligence into the claims by Mr. Woyome before making the moneys available to him, then we are obviously in the wrong hands. If you have ministers of state who exhibit this height of incompetence and apathy towards the cause of the nation, then we can safely and respectively question the judgment of the president in appointing them as ministers of state. What is even nauseating is the assertion by the Deputy- Attorney General—Mr. Ebow Barton Odro that the case was a bad one. Obviously, giving the information in the public domain now, the case is not a bad one; but a deliberate ploy by the government to render us perpetually poor whilst they and the people around them enjoy the toil of our collective labour and resources.

The spontaneity and alacrity of the payment of the judgment debt to Mr. Woyome show that the government deliberately decided to defraud and eventually defrauded the state. This is fraud in daylight and the government has proven beyond all reasonable doubt of her insensitive, uncaring, and disdain towards the citizenry. A caring and sympathetic government will not sit down and allow her hard-earned resources to go down the gurgler. Instead of working assiduously to improve the lots of the citizenry, fixing the problems at our schools, fixing our roads, improving the lives of the vulnerable, inter alia, the government deemed it fit by her actions to render the people of Ghana more powerless and vulnerable. They cannot fix the road between Nsawam and Suhum, the Sofoline and the mallam interchanges since assuming power about 3 years ago; but saw it fit to pay Mr. Woyome that whopping amount of money 11 days after the court ruled in his favor. The judge made his ruling on 24/5/2010 and payment was effected on 4/6/2010. Can’t you smell an “umbrella?”

This injustice by the government should not be pushed under the carpet or allowed to continue. The government must not be allowed to continue ruling after serving her first term. If we mistakenly offer the Mills-led administration another mandate, then our national kitty will be dissipated big-time. They will drain and empty the national purse if they are allowed to be at the helm after the next elections. Folks, this despicable and unpatriotic action by the government should embolden us all to show our love to our dear nation by voting out the current government out of office during the next elections. This thievery stinks, and represents a loss not to this present generation, but the one’s unborn. This fraud must be investigated by competent bodies that have the capacity to unravel fraud in the country. The former Attorney General, who is the current Minister of Education—Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu in my estimation is the very embodiment of failure and must be fired before her actions plunge the nation into further losses. In fact, I am not surprised anymore about her high profile losses when she was the Attorney-General. Mr. President, we don’t deserve this inequity and iniquitous payback after the electorate honored you with the presidency. I don’t think neither you nor your former Attorney-General will let your money go down the gurgler just like that.
