Did Nana Addo Say President Mills Has No Record To Prove?

Mon, 20 Feb 2012 Source: Koudjoe, Francis K.

I read an article on Ghanaweb entitled “Mills has no record to prove; He’s not in charge” – Akufo-Addo.

Wonders shall never end. See who is talking about record. See who is talking about “in-charge or not in-charge”. Empty barrels, they say, makes the most noise. It is rather unfortunate to hear such comments coming from someone like Nana Akufo-Addo whose record and credibility is nothing to write home about. Let me use only one record to disprove Nana Addo’s assertion. Among the numerous records chalked by President Mills, I would like us to look at Integrity as an important record of the president. There is no doubt in my mind that when it comes to integrity, most people will agree with me that, President Mills has proven beyond doubt that he is a man of integrity. Integrity is an important tool to successful governance and the president has proven this to Ghanaians to a large extent.

President Mills has proven to Ghanaians that he does not condone and connive, aid and abate crime. He does not cover up criminal activities irrespective of party affiliation. He does not protect or shield drug barons. The president wants the good people of Ghana to see what is going on in the country. He is very transparent. As compared to the NPP government who manipulated the state institutions like the judiciary, the NDC government led by President Mills is the only government who has given autonomy to state institutions like EOCO, BNI, CID to mention but a few, to operate freely without any form of interference from any quarters whatsoever. Let me just use two(2) instances to substantiate my point.

1. Take the cocaine turn into baking soda issue. Less than two(2) weeks after the court ruling, an arrest was made. A top police offer was arrested as compared to the seventy-seven(77) parcels of cocaine which disappeared under the NPP government.

2. The Woyome saga is also a case in point. People have been arrested in connection with the case.

These instances should even tell Nana Addo that President Mills is firmly in charge of the affairs of this great nation of ours. This even shows that, Nana Addo is not abreast with the state of affairs in the country.

My question is that, what is the record or pedigree of Nana Akufo-Addo? What has he got to prove as someone who wants to be the president of Ghana? When Akufo-Addo was the Minister of Justice, what did he do? He was promoting criminal activities, covering criminals who were supposed to be jailed. During his tenure of office as the Foreign Affairs Minister, was he not distributing diplomatic passports to drug barons to enhance the drug trade in Ghana? Akufo-Addo should know that, he was one of the major contributors why Ghana has been labeled a transit country to the drug trade. I wouldn’t like to go into details of how the Ghanaian economy is growing at a faster rate in terms of infrastructure, stability of the currency, single digit inflation, Single Spine Salary Structure which has improved the lives of a lot of Ghanaians, just to mention but a few. But what I would like to tell Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and the NPP is that, I understand their frustration and desperation to come into power, but unfortunately its not going to happen because Nana Addo has no record to prove, and if you have no record to prove means you cannot be in charge. Someone who has no credible record will always use foul means to get what he wants by threatening the peace of the country with words like “All die be die”. Jesus said, those who use the sword, will die by the sword. Therefore, those who use foul means will die through foul means. Nana Addo and his cohort cannot destroy the peace and good governance Ghanaians are enjoying under President Mills.

Ghanaians are wide awake and will not succumb to any lies and misleading words by the NPP. These lies cannot and will not change the electoral process. By the end of this year, Nana Addo will be celebrating his retirement from active politics. Thank you.
