It takes the law to disrobe an intransigent hardliner macho of his pride, to wit, “patapaa pieto, ye de mmra na worɔ”.
Not long ago, there was a guy who was bragging about the drastic measures he would take if a section of his extended family members embarked on their plan to renovate their father’s house willed to them.
He swore on the names of some departed members of the family to buttress his contention. Although he was not a direct beneficiary of the will and hence ordinarily not entitled to have any primary interest or say in the house, he still had the shameless audacity to stamp his feet, telling the beneficiaries what to do.
I heard he threatened them with going to see the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare if the direct beneficiaries of the will did not succumb to his dictates. What a depiction of “akuraase taaman” (a village man’s”) attitude! Empty talk!
Now that the beneficiaries have acted contrary to his avowed declaration, let us see what he will do.
I will advise him to climb down from his high horse, seeing himself as no special person worth his empty brags, if not a nobody at all.
Why shouldn’t he consult the ant for a bit of wisdom as advised in Proverbs 6:6: “Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise”?
Is it not a fool that will prevent good things from coming their way?
If you stubbornly elect to stagnate and wallow in a life of misery, failing to heed useful advice or accept offers that can possibly lift you out of your poverty-stricken and miserable life, who do you blame, if not yourself?
Pride goes before a fall. The unknown person(s) for whom this publication is intended had better swallow their pride, put up their hands, and crawl on their knees to beg for forgiveness for being rude and threatening to their senior extended family members.

The person who was shouting over the mountains and in the valleys, spewing balderdash, and treating whoever gave him useful advice that contravened his wishes and stance as his archenemy, is today running helter-skelter clutching straws, seeking a saviour to come to his aid.
The saviour he is looking for in this publication. If he would listen to the writer, all would be well with him.
There is nothing to gain from being stubborn. What a case of an empty barrel making the most noise!
